I smoked this one before the PAM Exclusivo. This OpusX was from 2004 and had a beautiful wrapper that was slightly veiny. Very mild prelight aroma. When I first tasted the unlit cigar there was definite spiciness. Like I licked some pepper or something. Clipped off about 1/8", toasted, and lit. Draw was firm but easy.
First few draws were a bit spicy but then the flavors settled in nicely. I picked up on some hints of coffee and nuts. About an 1" into it, I swear there was a sweet flavor. I thought it was very citrus-like. This went away after about another 1" or so and then the nuttiness and coffee/cocoa flavors picked up again. Very smooth and pleasant until I had a few burn issues. Went out 3 times in 10 minutes. First two I re-lit with no problems. Last one I gave up with about 2" left.
Overall, a very pleasant cigar that I would smoke again. This was my second OpusX ever and was better than the first, despite it going out a few times. Very complex, changing flavor profiles that keep you wondering what will come next - highly recommended.
On my scale: 8.5/10
CA rating scale: 89
