if anyone has bought "the Connoisseur" from Dave at CheapHumidors.Com, and opted to buy the glass door (and are using it!) - what are you doing with the solid wood door?

I'm looking for another solid door, so I can place all my bands on the inside of the door, and put some coating over them to seal them in. Kinda a colorful inside look I guess.

I'd be happy to buy it, trade for it or send my original door in exchange once I am done? I just need a spare door to put the bands on, so I don't have to have my door off at all. I want to make sure whatever I seal the bands in with dries and is no longer 'aromatic' before I start using the door.

Anyways, if you have the spare door and want to be rid of it, PM me and we'll work something out.

Very interesting idea Swissy!

I originally purchased the glass door option but returned it after realizing that the wood door looked way better.

I'd be slightly concerned with a finished wood surface inside...but that's just me.

Post some pics when you get this done!

You know, I thought about that but I figure I have enough cedar exposed, plus a ton of beads, that having one surface fisished might not be too bad. And if I get the spare door, I can leave the door with the bands off for as long as needed for the covering to dry, cure and no longer smell to protect the inside.

BUT... if anyone thinks this is a BAD idea, please say so! ;)

Swissy - greetings. I've see water based varnishes that should probably set up "smell free". Check the local craft stores....

Take care - B.B.S.

Hey Jim, why dont you make a "Ghetto" replacement door out of plexi-glass until its done?
