Heard the guy up at our local B&M was doing this. Get the ring gauge to match up and you can smoke it right down to the cap, I assume.

Does anyone else do this? Sounds like an idea for those cigars you want to smoke to the nub. :)

I go to Mexico 4 to 5 times a year for racing and fun.
I go to a little place in Ensenada that I think has the real cubanos. The guy there always offers to cut your sticks for you. He has a jar and he cuts the caps into and says he collects enough ends to put in a pipe

As for using a pipe to nub? Never tried but good thinking. i'm down
I use a 2 inch drywall screw (not galvanized) or a toothpick to nub those good ones.

Hence my screen name

I recall Doc did something like it...once. Moki made tobaccocino...once.

Yeah, I remember that. It was just the caps, though, right? I'm talking taking the last inch or two of a cigar and sticking it in a pipe of a matching ring gauge... then go to town and not miss a bit of that cigar! :)

I don't have any pipes, but I'd use them this way if it works like it seems.

I've smoked nubs, I've smoked caps, and I've smoked cigar leaf chopped up into pipe tobacco. It's definitely an experience. I'm not saying it's a good experience, but it's different. Cigar tobacco is pretty damn strong and smoking it in a pipe really seems to bring the strength out.

I wouldn't do it again, but if it's something you think you may enjoy, go for it.

Blending the chopped leaf or caps with some nice Virginias and a little Latakia is quite pleasurable, however.

I don't think I can find a big enough ring gauge to smoke a cigar in my pipe, if that's what you're talking about. You're actually saying someone clipped the head, turned it upside down in the pipe and lit the foot......then proceeded to smoke it through the pipe? Strange.

Why not just get a few of those custom Pepin Cigar Pipes.

Sounds like a long curved plastic tip to me.

I agree with nancy-boy there. What would be the purpose of this? You know, you can also put a saddle on some dogs, and ride them, but why would you?

I've seen people chop up cigarettes or Phillies and put them in bongs. I guess it is close to the same idea

Yeah, that's exactly it. Pipes are easier to hold in your mouth and pick up / sit down than that last inch and a half of cigar, especially if you're moving around. You could toss it, sure, but why waste it? I think that's the reasoning behind it.

I'm surprised... I figured a few people would have tried this before. Thanks for the discussion. :)

Did it, won't do it again. Cigar tobacco is harsh in a pipe. I have put a few inches in a meershaum also, YUCK.

Not me, but i saw a woman in Havanna, Cuba, on the Catholic church steps, smoking one, and took her pic.

That looks more ridiculous than I ever imagined.

So it is an actual cigar being smoked in a pipe. What's the point?

I was told not to do it unless you have a pipe specifically for doing this. It can lead to an unpleasant flavor in the pipe when you try to smoke some pipe tobacco. Not sure if there is any validity to it, but I wouldn't risk a nice pipe for it.

I have tried it though with some other pipes and it is very interesting. Harder to keep the cigar lit though when it goes out.
