maker: Labrot & Grahm

Name: Woodford reserve Distiller's select

Type: Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey

come's in a 750 ml bottle serial numbered and with the batch number signed by the distiller.

Cost $25 in a militerry store may be more elsewhere

Nice amber color

Taste smooth with a hint of wood

overall seems like a top rate boubon

light on the pallet no serious bite like some whiskey.

Perfect companion to a nice cigar

it was recomended to me by several folks seems fairly smooth wondered if anyone had tried this before.

Woodford is a regular in my cabinet however, I feel there are some much better bourbon's out there. Old Forrester (rumored to come from the same barrels that are not chosen to be Woodford), Knob Creek, Four Roses, Elijah Craig although I am spoiled because they are distilled within an hour of where I live. I usually don't go for the widely marketed and distributed brands (Maker's Mark and Woodford Reserve.) I believe AVB has done a review on Woodford.

HERE

Just my opinion we all have different tastes.

Regards,
Dan

Stole my link.  I'm too slow this morning.

Thank you for the input bourbon is hard to get here even on post hopefully i can come across some makers mark seems to be seasonal here and i keep missing it.Jack Daniels single barrel is what i usually end up with.

There are quite a few bourbons you can get from the local economy that can't be found here in the US. Not cheap, but pretty collectable or a good ebay item.

I plan on showing him the german whiskey links you sent me tomorrow

Woodford is a regular in my glass.

My wife was the Woodford Ambassador to Virginia, so needless to say i had cases of it sitting around and got pretty spoiled. But i will have to say it is my favorite on the rocks.. I am also a big fan of knob creek...

A Woodford Manhattan can't be beat...

A correct original Manhattan is made with RYE not Bourbon. It has been corrupted to bourbon when the overall popularity of Rye decreased. However, since Rye is making a small comeback now you should again make your Manhattans correctly.

Either way......

I prefer Woodford, vermouth, bitters, and a cherry, mixed like a Manhattan

Call it what you want, but thats what I met my wife over... At least thats my side of the story.... Hers is different hehe

I am a Woodford fan, did the tour last year before going to the Derby, doesnt look like I will make the Derby this year :(

Shooter you know of anyone with Tickets in the Stands?

Not off the top of my head... Growing up in KY, the derby never really did it for me...as in going to it.... If I had em I am sure my wife would have me going... She is the one with connections... I will ask her but don't count on it.

Thanks....last year was a blast. The Downs is such a classy place compaired to the rest of the tracks out there.

You need to check out Keeneland in Lexington for a classy track... It blows Churchill away.... The ponies run April and October

Welcome Warbeagle, why don't you post an intro in the proper forum. You also need to reduce your sig pic to 500 pixels in height plus width. Nice pic BTW.

i have to add another positive comment for woodford, and as a denizen of lexington it nearly breaks my heart to be at college and so far away from keeneland. hands down the best track i have been to, but then again i have visited only three.

Kirk,.. I have been to a number of tracks and Keenland is still the tops. Did I mention the co-eds during the spring meet? Bourbon, a Cigar, gambling, and woman,.... what more could you want?
