The guy at the local smoke shop recomended these to me and I have had a couple and they are actually pretty good. But the more I talk to this guy the more I think he doesn't know as much as he should. So, anybody know any info on this guy, or a place to get them online?

Thanks

HOJA CUBA 1965. These are the new releases from the Tabacalera Tambor factory in Costa Rica.

I was pretty sure the brand was hoja but I was not positive. Anybody know where I can get some online?

These are far from new. Hoja Cubana released these around 1999-2000. Three or four different sizes, if I recall. They were the next step up from the bundled Hoja yellow bands. The wrapper was finished with a sugary "glue" that had a sweet taste on the lips at first taste. It did not affect the burning tobacco. I have smoked a lot of these in the past. My favorite was the tres' petite size. I think these are still available, as the last time I was at the local shop they had them. I am not sure if they are still being made, as I lost touch with the Hoja band years ago. I went to many a Big Smoke on Edward Nikkah, the owner of Hoja Cubana. Really great guy, but have not seen hide nor hair of him in years. These may be distributed through Bahia, as the families were close.

I remamber seeing them in a shop thinking that they looked like a bundle cigar but a bundle price they did not have. They were pretty pricey as I recall and the shop that they were in was a pretty high line shop. The guy at the shop said they were very good. But I was only there to purchase some Opus.
