For the last couple of weeks some of my goto cigars have seemed to have almost no flavor or a slight bitter taste, these are cigars that I had tried out of the same box anywhere from a month to six months ago and thought they were great. I thought that I might have been puffing to hard , so Ive slowed down on that but it doesnt seem to help. Im prob. haveing this problem with about 1 in 3 cigars. Other people smoking with me say they are great ??? ??? ???

Is it posible to burn out your tast buds?

A few months ago, I started brewing my tea with some crushed mint added...thus mint tea. While smoking one of Allofus's blind taste test cigars that I KNOW I darned well liked, I didn't care for it at all. So, yeah, I know it's possible to throw your taste buds outta whack.

Been there...and have fully recovered.

Not sure what the hell was going on, but I'm glad i'm past it.

Sounds like you need to get yourself a tongue scraper. :p

Never happened to me, but then again, I don't smoke nearly as frequently as some of the other guys here. I wouldn't be surprised if you "numbed" out your taste buds for a short while.

Sometimes I do the same thing. I not smoke for a week or so and everything returns to normal.

Just something to consider:

Whacked Out Taste Buds

I'm no doctor, but maybe it's something that happens to some of us once in a while. I know it's happened to me on occassion and I'm always damn glad when it passes. :)

It's happening to me right now. I can't seem to enjoy many cigars I previously found ok. Now nothing but a few select brands will work for me. Don't know if it's the same thing but...

Damn post padder Hogg. Next thing we know you'll be up to 2 posts every nine months. :0 Welcome, join in some more now that the ice is broken. :)

I was getting over a cold last week and the same cigars that were lifeless have that joy to them again this week. Same boxes, same conditions.

I think it is that little secondary fragrance that makes a good smoke, that little waft of flavor as the smoke is almost dissapated. And that is what was missing.

Of course, I didn't stop, just smoked my way through it. "Perseverance, my boy" my dad always said. :p

LMAO I didnt even notice,

aging (the number of taste buds diminishes with age) oh my god , there is no cure for me , 44 and getting older every day. I guess there is nothing left to do but give away all my cigars. ???

:sign: :sign: :sign:

oh yea Im up to 7 and 0 right now all good was pretty worried there for a while

Can a beginner to cigars get a sore throat? I might have experienced that some time ago, otherwise it was just a coincidence.

Happens to me sometimes too, but I also drink hot sauce like milk. The key is, as cigarsarge said, just take a break for a week or two. It's not fun. But it does bring back the flavor of cigars so its worth it.
