A chilly Easter afternoon gave me a wonderful opportunity to finally sit down and enjoy this cigar. The construction was impressive with an oily brown wrapper and I smelled some nice tobacco on the foot. The burn and draw were pretty good. The ash was fairly strong and stayed on the cigar for a good two inches before I knocked it off.
The opening inch of the cigar was a little lackluster. It drew easily and had an ample amount of smoke, but the taste was very muted. No real spice or distinct flavor popped out.
About halfway through the smoke, the cigar’s profile changed. It developed a depth that is noteworthy in its subtlety. The cigar became more full bodied and several distinct flavors showed their colors. I noted a very interesting array of light spice beneath a dense herbal base that predominated the finish.
The complexity that developed after the midway point was remarkable. This cigar seemed to grow and expand in terms of flavor as I smoked it down to the numb.
This is a truly special cigar that won’t make fans out of everyone because of it’s ho-hum opening, but it does reward the patient smoker that appreciates how flavor in a cigar can rise as it burns down to ashes.
Thank you Brian! I really enjoyed this cigar that made for a memorable smoking experience.
