Well another newbie here..
WHo has just seen the light..

My uncle who has a very well rounded collection of cigars..offered me one when I visited him in Guatemala, C.A. last year.

Ever since than I have been fascinated with cigars..
My first experiences wese with 2 Cuban cigars a Montecristo#3.and than an H.Upmann petit tubo .

Unfotunately I have no idea what a good smoke is..

since than i have smoked a few select cigars..that were given to me by some friends..

I saw this gift pack that included the following cigars.. tell me if any of them are worth the time?

Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale Candela
Arturo Fuente Selecion Privado #1
C.A.O. Gold Robusto
C.A.O. Criollo Mancha
Don Diego Anniversario
Toraño Exodus 1959 Silver
H. Upmann Cedar Aged
Romeo y Julieta Reserve Natural
Punch Pita.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions..

remember im a newbie :D so be nice..

welcome Alex,

I'm relatively new to this whole thing as well. Luckily, it's all about taste so what you like is yours to enjoy.

I've had great luck with anything Feunte and CAO. Now having said that, a good place to see a list of cigars that the "experts" on here enjoy is the check the "What ya been smoking this weekend" section which lists out the regulars' rotation of stogies. Gives you a good idea of whats good and whats not.

Other than that - try everything and don't be afraid to post your review/opinions.

I'd say skip that and go straight to Cubans  . They are far cheaper too if you add in the state tobacco tax and sales tax.

Hola and welcome to CP! You'll love it here.

Check out the Newbie Sampler Trade Thread

Welcome to CP

As lucasbuck said, the best deal for your money is a newbie sampler trade ;)

As just having completed a newbie sampler trade, I can do nothing but recommend it!

And welcome to CP! :) ... from not so sunny southern Finland

Welcome to CP! It's been awhile since we've had a newbie intro, I was beginning to wonder what was going on. ;)

Your sampler cigars look great for the most part-good way to try a bunch of different cigars and then buy the ones that you like. I love the Torano Exodus line, you will find that they are absolutely wonderful. Not a bad sampler pick.

Hola y bienvenidos. You will definitely like it here - it's great place. :D

Thanks guys..

I feel so welcomed..LOL!!

I figured I would start out with sampler packs.. SO i can get a taste for different types of cigars..that way I can find one i like.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Torano's.. I cant wait to smoke them.. :D

Everything is sitting in the humidor right now.. And will be moved to the travel humidor when I leave for Vegas.. :-)

unfortunately the sampler is 3 cigars short.. :D I could not resist the temptation to smoke. the H.upmann ..the punch and the Arturo Fuentes candela......I will write a review..on these cigars when i learn how to write one properly.. :sign:

.. Some of the reviews on here are NOVEL worthy...and would I not want to lower the standard..

Welcome to CP!

Stay away from the RyJ...you won't like them. Send them to me and I will destroy them for you :p

Or.... I studied Spanish for 7 years (84-91) Korean for 8 years (96-present), Tagalog for 3 years (01-present) and self taught basic Chinese and Japanese off and on since College in 93. Also, I spoke "house" German at home with my grandparants when I was a kid and my current job is translation.

Biggest problem is keeping them all straight, especially the ones I don't use daily like Korean and Japanese. Not to mention the problems with Spanish / Tag crossover. Tagalog is so heavily Spanish influenced that using one I often accidentally slip into the other.

Anyways - welcome in all languages!
