After a challenging day at work, I’d decided that tonight’s smoke would be better than a good one; something special was clearly required. Thanks to a very generous BOTL, I was sent a Padron 1926 Serie #9 in natural, sungrown. After trying a PAM64 and an OpusX and having fresh memories of both, I was looking forward to this one.

Let me say up front – I really like Padron. Be it a Fumas, a 2K, or one of these magnificent anniversary smokes, they just really float my boat. This one was no exception; it had a couple of weeks of humi time here, and really looked fantastic. The wrapper was even colored. It just had a rich, great feel and look to it. Snipped clean with the Xikar and had an amazingly open pre-light draw. Hints of that unique and special Padron anniversary tastes abounded. The pre-light / post cut aroma was fantastic.

Just like the PAM64 I had earlier, this one also was rather unremarkable for the first half or three-quarters of an inch. Then, it literally exploded with flavor and the taste changed dramatically. The smoke went from hazy and thin to an absolutely creamy, almost opaque cloud with each draw. The taste was…..like a vanilla PAM. Not vanilla as in “plain” but vanilla as in “not a Maduro”. It was as creamy and as rich a cigar as I’ve ever smoked. Just….fantastic. No surprises as this one went along; it just kept blowing me away with smooth, creamy, wonderful tobacco tastes. Some hint of that hard to describe Padron anniversary taste was clearly there. Minty, maybe? Really hard to pin down, but very distinct to my tastes. Not overwhelming, but rather like the tiny bit of spice on a great steak – this cigar just gave it up with smooooooth creamy draws time after time.

No mention need be made about construction or burn – like other high end smokes I’ve had, this one was also just flawless, though I will say I always toast the foot carefully and make sure they start with a nice, even burn. The draw was surprisingly open on pre-light but once the show started, it was impossible to fault. I sat there on my deck for about an hour, with draw after draw of opaque, dense, creamy smoke that lingered under the roof and smelled as fantastic as it tasted. Superb..!! Smoked this one down until I couldn’t hang onto it any longer but the smoking experience was as cool as could be, right down to the nub. Sad to finally have to put this one down….it was great.

To be sure - another one to remember…..

Best Regards - B.B.S.

Nice review, Tom. Mega dittos!!!

I had a 26 tonight as well - the #6 maddie. It was just as good as my #9 (which was my first 1926)

Mmmmmmmmmmmm... '26
right at the top of my fav list.

Nice review Bro!

#9 maduros are one of my favorite cigars. Ah heck, ANY 1926 is my favorite cigar  BUT when I have a choice between all four sizes, I go for the #9s
(damn you RicMac25, he got me on these.......)

Wow, great review. I've long been a fan of the PAM64 and just ordered a box of PAM26 #9 so I'm very much looking forward to an experience like yours.

These are my favorite cigars of all time, bar none.

Congratulations on the smoke!

Nice review Tom

The 1926 series delivers another smoke to remember! I'm a big fan of the Torpedos in the 64 and the No.2 in the 26 series. The naturals are the way to go for me. I like the boldness of the maduros but I MUST eat first or I'm sure to be dealing with a pissed off stomach.

:D

mmmmmmm....no.9 Natural.

My Favorite!

Nice review. The 1926's are great cigars. I especially like the maduros. They have more nose than the 1964's which adds another dimension to the cigar. I just wish I could buy them for 10 bucks or less. I hate paying 14 plus on a cigar.

Great review BBS! I am very partial to the 1926 naturals as well. There will always be a few in my humi.

Your review is making my mouth water just reading about it! I still cant believe that ive tried nearly every single padron except for one the '26's! Local stores always seem to sell out before i find em!! Nice review though!!
