My wife gave birth to our daughter, Segen Holly, on Saturday, 20 September!

She tipped the scale at 7 lbs 15 oz and mother and baby have done well in these past hectic days. I go back to work tomorrow, and I finally found time to enjoy my long-awaited baby-cigar, a Padron 1926 Serie #2 Maduro. While I enjoyed it this evening, pondering new-fatherhood and who would be receiving cigars, I also realized that I have hit another milestone on CP: 100 posts. I've learned so much in my short time here, and I hope this is the beginning of plenty of good participation. I'd like to give a little something back-- it's only appropriate that I share a cigar with someone from this wonderful community.

Here's the contest, open to all, for an afore mentioned Padron, along with some of my other favorite smokes. For lack of a better idea, this one's a bit of an ego trip-- the first person to answer these three questions wins:

1. What does my daughter's first name mean?

2. Where does my avatar come from?

3. What is the finest aircraft in the United States Air Force inventory? I am VERY biased... :)

Thanks a lot for everything!

1. Blessing

2. There's no such thing as a free lunch. / Squadron Flag

Very nice Gary! Little more specific though... what book does TANSTAFL come from? And, while I have a huge amount of affection for the slick C-130, I'm much more fond of one of its many variants...

Awesome everybody, and thanks for the well wishes.

Yes, Segen is German for Blessing according to my wife. We thought it had the virtue of being unique and pretty without being too strange.

TANSTAAFL-- There Ain't No Such Thing as a Free Lunch. In Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, this was a common saying among the people who lived on the moon. The Arms come from Professor De LaPaz's idea for what the Moon's flag should be: A stary field with a red bend sinister and a brass cannon. If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY suggest you give it a read.

As for the version of the C-130, this one's a little tough, so I'll give you a hint. It's not a J model and there are only about 20 or so in the USAF inventory. I am stationed at RAF Mildenhall in the UK.

Edited to add.........Congrats....she is beautiful!

She is wonderful and you are a very lucky man.

Take much care.

Thanks everybody. I had to take a quick break to change a diaper (here in the UK they call them nappies) and now she's getting her midnight snack from Mom.

The Mrs. and I have really had a good time with her so far. She's eating well, she's healthy, and she is even sleeping pretty well for an 8 day old. When she's not sleeping she likes to look around with this really quizzical look on her face at whatever she can.

At her 5 day checkup with the pediatrician Segen decided to wait until she was completely undressed-- diaper too-- to poo all over the exam table. We're talking a lot of air behind this... it shot a good two feet or so! Ah, the joys of babies! :D

Nasty was the first to get all three, so he's the official winner. Thanks for playing for all those who did.

Congratulations to you, your wife and your respective families.
