For those of you in the Fort Lauderdale/Plantation/Coral Springs area (Florida, if you couldn't guess...heh) comes this delightful sounding event...too bad the great graphics and pix in their email to me didn't copy here...and since I have recently tried and enjoyed the new RP's I'm gonna try and be there...I am so lucky I have a GF that likes the smell of cigars...too bad she won't let me smoke them in the house, but you can't have everything...at least we have a nice screened in back patio, with a nice overhead fan, which overlooks a canal and has dinner wandering by (ducks)...you know, all this talk of cigars has made me a bit, well, craving I think is a good word...off to try an Ashton maduro (or do I wanna try the Cohiba maduro?) I just bought...yeah, maybe the Cohiba...anyone else live around here?

Hmmmm...no one answered my question...nobody lives in this area? Or is something known about Macabi (other than high prices) that I don't know? ???

Hey neighbor. Greetings from Coral Springs!

I've been to a similar event at Macabi when CAO was the sponsor. Had a good time. Brought a friend and our wives and wouldn't you know, my friend won the drawing for a beautiful CAO Brazilia humidor.

I would like to go, but this weekend I will be out of town.

Have a good time.

Peter

Glad to know there's someone around...did you ever go over to that place that was on Coral Ridge & Lakeview? I think it was called "The Cigar Place?" I think they moved and are now on Sample Road near University and their sign just says "Cigars & Expresso" or the reverse of that? Any opinion on them as a local smoke shop?

Oh, wow, Manix...I missed this post until I got back tonight...it would have been nice if you could have made it and I could have met someone from this forum...and no, I didn't go to Gatsby's but would have liked to, but last night was my end of the bargain (took GF to the movies) that got GF to go to Macabi's with me tonight, so yes, I went...no cost other than cigars...it was a cigar and wine tasting thing as in my first post in this thread...it was the first I've ever gone to, and oh, my droogies, I have marvelous news to report...we have a new SOTL...it was Rocky Patel night and they had a few people from RP on hand with some of their newer smokes, RP Sungrown, Edge, and the new Java, which is a coffee/chocolate flavored cigar...now I myself could never smoke one as I love the taste of my smokes without added flavors, but my GF was with me, smelled one, and thought it smelled delicious (chocolate lover like most women) so I bought her one...and she loved it!!! I sat there smoking a couple of AF Short Story's, my first (now I know why you guys rave about AF's, so different from their non-premium stuff which I never liked) and it was great...so now I have to add AF Hemingways to my list of stuff I like...here's my doll with smoke in hand but not the Java as this was taken at an earlier time when she was just holding one for fun for the photo...

Pix removed due to host bandwidth problems...

But wait, there's more...when they had the drawing for some of the door prizes and stuff one of the RP distributors was standing next to her, and he won one of the door prizes, and didn't really feel like he should take one being as he was one of the distributors and one of the Macabi people had just handed him a ticket before he could say no, so he switched tickets with her, basically giving her his prize, which was one of those nice little 15-20 cedar-lined, Burl vaneer humidors (whew...talk about a compound, complex sentence)...so she made me buy more RP Javas for her to smoke occasionally when she sits out on the back patio with me and I have my nightly smoke as it has become a ritual...it's a great time for us to talk and reflect on what the day has been like..and now, once in a while, she can light one up too...

But wait, there's more...there was an added bonus whereby you bought 3 RP's and you got a free RP Sungrown or RP Edge...I even won a prize given out by the RP people...they are going to introduce a new smoke in 2 or 3 months that they are tentatively calling Old Vintage Reserve or something like that, which is gonna have a MSRP of about $10-12, a step up from the current RP's...I guess you could say it's the rookie card of a new cigar...so they raffled off one of the samples, and I lucked out and got it...can't wait to try it...the Macabi owner told me not to let go of it, and to make sure I smoked it myself, as he thought they were great...so all-in-all, a great night, and now that I got her into it this at least she'll go with me when I go to other events, and will enjoy herself...and personally, I think blondes (^) look super-sexy with a cigar in their elegant, dainty fingers...all-in-all a wonderful night...
