Hello all,

There is one of these AVO events scheduled at the Ruth Chris Steak House near the KING OF PRUSSIA MALL west of Philly on the 3rd of April.

A couple BOTL from the local B&M are thinking we might carpool to the event. My understanding is that the cost is $110.00 and includes:
  • cocktails
  • a four-course dinner
  • 6 AVO cigars (including one AVO 80th)
  • Avo’s jazz trio for entertainment
  • and a raffle for a trip for two to the Dominican Republic for Avo’s final 80th bash.
Anyone ever attended one of these? Was it a good time? Would you recommend it?

Thanks all,

he came through dallas about a month ago and i attened. it was a blast and i would definatly recommend it.

I have not been to one of these events, but I have heard Avo and his trio play several times. They are fantastic. If you've not met him, he is a true gentleman of the cigar world. A very nice person. Just from what I know of Avo and Davidoff and the events that they typically throw...I'd definitely go for it. If it was a bit closer to Charlottesville, you bet you a$$ I'd be there.

I just met Avo a few weeks ago in FL at the store in Heathrow/Lake Mary. He apparantly just shows up every so often to play in the bar. He seemed a super nice guy. If I had a chance to go to one of his 80th B-day events I would be there in a heartbeat. I think it's all relative to the individual whether or not the price for the event is too much. However keep this in mind, he's only going to be turning 80 and releasing this special cigar once, so it's not like if you miss this event you can catch him on tour next time.

:) One is happening just outside of Milwaukee on April 11th, $60 for a dinner and a few cigars including an 80th. PM me if you want the info.

I may be flying solo on this one, are there any CPers gettin togather for this? (Pewaukee event)

You guys will have a great time w/ a true legend. George-don't forget to say hello to you know who....

ca4john,

I am 99% sure I'll be there also. I may have a coworker going. I can P.M. you my cell if you want to meet up. I don't really know anyone here that well, so this would be a good chance too!

Great time had by all! I formally got to meet ffOpusxff. Turns out we were at the last TAA but didn't really talk much. George was his generous wonderful self as always.
Avo is a classy guy from start to finish. Freely giving of his time to whomever wanted a moment. My brother and I grabbed a box of maduros which Avo signed. Autographed some things for a friend as well. He commented on the positive attitude of the group he met. We even sat at the table with and got to talk to Chuck Hedges the Clairinet player of international renown. It was absolutely worth the money.

Tequila, Scotch, and Wine tasting. Ice Sculpture with seafood buffet. Prime rib cut fresh in front of you. Mojitos etc...

Go if you get the chance. Theres only a few left.

Baron, it was great to meet you. As he stated the party was awesome. What better way to meet people than with a cigar in your hand. Well worth the money to whoever was thinking of going. Avo was one of the best guys around. Hopefully there will be another so more of us can meet up. Glad to be part of this great brotherhood. George drove up from IL to meet with us and what a great guy also. Hope to smoke again with you guys. Happy 80th Avo

I can't say enough what a great event it was. $60.00 was a small price to pay for all that came with the event - including the chance to meet and spend time with Avo, as well as the other BOTL's from the cigar boards. Not to mention the free cigars and other goodies handed out...

I took my wife - she, too had a fantastic time.

That was cool that your wife came, wish mine like to smoke cigars. She does not know what she is missing out on. Say hello to her and hopefully we can do dinner and a smoke sometime. I hear Gibsons in Chi-town might be a good place to go. Will have to set something up for a future date and get another group together. Wives and all   :p

We're doing Potawatami!!!

BTW, Shaun - hold out hope. It took some convincing, but the first time you take her to something like the Avo 80th event you'll have a heck of a time getting out the door without her...
