Just an FYI, they have these machines next to soda and tea/coffee machines in many places in Japan. They are usually complimentary and are common in places like internet cafe's.

I'm not sure how it is in the larger cities ie Tokyo, Osaka but I was visiting my mom and brother in Kyushu and the few internet cafe's I went to are very interesting. First you have several choices of rooms which are basically like office cubicles- smoking, non smoking, group (lots of karaoke), then there are several chair types, regular, massage, couch. Then you pay by time I believe it was about 1000 (about 10usd) yen for up to 3 hours then a little per hour after that. All the beverages were complimentary and you can have food delivered to your individual stall. One place didn't have a problem with cigars so I was there with my brother for something like 6 hours and didn't even realize it. G1
