I see all these Cigars Jrcigar.com has on thier site with thier name on them and was wondering if they were any good...here are a few questions.

The Alternatives they sell (designer imposters lol, do they really taste like what they say they do?

The Ultimates they sell...price wise they are pretty close to some Name brand smokes of the same size and shape are they any good??

and how would these rate against like a Consuerga or Padron Fumas????

The alts are pure crap IMHO. The Ultimates compare with most domestic cigars. I buy them from time to time.

I was not to happy with the Alternative's that I tried and would not try them again. As for the ultimates, I can just guess that they are the same and that also goes for the Thompsons and CI Knock-offs (did I get the CI's right?).

I'm not a big fan of those JR Alternates. To me they all taste the same as one another and they're not a good, cheap cigar. In that price range I'd rather have a Cuba Aliados or a Consuegra.

The Alts and the Ults are very different. The Ultimate Cabs are very very good. They are one of my go to smokes. They are a great value for the money, very rich tasting, and uniformly beautiful in their construction. I have smoked the 10s, 50s, and 70s, and all are great. I get the maduros and they are dark and oily out of the box. I have some that show plume within 6 months, so I believe these are well aged cigars. They are rolled at the Villazon factory, home to several premiums, as I understand.

There are quite a few folks here who smoke these, and while I have not smoked the house brands at CI or anywhere else, it would appear that the JR cigars are a few notches above the typical house brands.

love the ult #60 in maduro!

The JR ALt's are absolute crap. The JR Ultimates are one of the best Honduran cigars on the market. The Ultimates have been in production for over 20 years. They are one of the most consistent cigars available.

These are the one's you sent me Dawg? I've been looking to place an order, I do really need to write down info about a cigar before I smoke all of them ;) .

A very nice smoke

Has anyone tried the new EDICION LIMITADA CIGARS that JR is pushing? The price seems good but is it any good? I am looking for a box of decent smokes for a wedding for my buddy with out going crazy.

Thanks,

K

The bad part is...I can't remember. I think I sent you the JR Ultimates Cabinet #60. A pretty big cigar. I might have also sent you a JR Ultimate Cabinet Belicoso or Principale. Those are the two I keep on hand. You can't really go wrong with any of the three. I like the Principale in oscuro the best...20 sticks for under $60. Fantastic.

Is there any way to just get a f'vr of the ultimates? I'd really like to try one, or a couple of them but don't want to invest in a box to do so.

JR sells 5'ers on his website. The only JR Ult that I have enough of to make a 5'er is the cabinet belicoso.

I use Alts to give to cigar mooching company or buddies that take 4 puffs and have enough. Got sick of wasting the good stuff
