Greetings All,
I haven’t written any full reviews in a LONG time now, but figure I’d better get back into practice with Stack’s pass headed my way
I’m on some kick right now to sample non-maddies. My interests were piqued in cameroons after I, on a whim, decided to try out a cheap-o Oliva Grand Cameroon. So, with that great Oliva experience behind me, I decided to try the subject of this review: an aged Dunhill Lonsdale.
I picked this “Dunnie” up from a pass back in October, because I’d never had a Dunhill. This was finally my first and probably won’t be my last.
Total smoking time: 35 minutes
REACTIONS:
Appearance and construction: This was very well built, but not perfect. However, the only issue worth noting was the lumpy cap.
Flavor: Hazelnut?? Macadamia?? Maybe. I couldn’t pinpoint it, but I liked it regardless. The mildness was a nice departure from the heavier stuff I usually smoke.
Smoking characteristics: ??? Hmmm, well, unfortunately, it was a very tight, but not quite plugged draw , so the smoke, though nutty and creamy, was far from abundant. The burn, was spot-on and the solid ash was a cool gray. Even though I enjoyed what was there, I ended up tossing it with a little less than half remaining.
Overall: 86-87 The draw was the deciding factor. Had the draw been better, I’d be having a hard time trying from the burn I’d received nubbing the beauty. This had the potential for a 93-94, but, alas, my face too often looked like I was drinking a milkshake through a McDonald’s straw
I’d definitely recommend this one, assuming my draw problems were not the norm.
Cheers all,
Dixie
