My first noob cigar review:
Shape: Figurado
Size: 4 7/8 x 60
Country: Dominican Republic
Strength: Medium
My Rating: 91
Do you ever have an obsessive thought throughtout the day (or maybe everyday) you can't get rid of. Got home last night to my first package of Killer Beans coffee (btw it's awesome) and one look at those dark oily beans, had me running for a dark oily cigar in my humidor.
Having had a bunch of Anejo's recently, I decided to grab my first WOA maduro I bought about a month ago and noticed right away that this cigar looked great - a little strange looking, but perfectly constructed and a nice deep dark maduro wrapper. A wonderful dark earthy smell.
Lighting this shape always seems a challenge for me to get an even burn going, so there was a slight uneveness in the beginning that leveled out half way through. Because of the shape the draw started out slow but after a few minutes it became easy and towards the end I had to slow a bit as it became a little too quick.
The taste of this thing was just so smooth, kind earthy with a combination mostly of cocoa with a little coffee. It was only slightly spicy, which increased a bit towards the end, so to me, the taste remained pretty consistent throughout. I was used to the Anejos and Opus becoming spice bombs at the end, but I enjoyed this just as much.
Looking forward to my next one.
