This is my first ever cigar review, so bear with me. I am very new to cigars, so there isnt much for me to compare this experience to, but ill share my take on it
I wish i could include the pics i took, but my camera is not cooperating at the moment.
The first thing i must note about this cigar is its appearance. Looking at it next to all the others in my makeshift humidor, it stands out... not as the best made cigar, or the one with the glossiest oily sheen, or anything like that, but the best way i can describe it is, well, delicious looking. If i didnt know any better, i would want to eat it. The dark maduro wrapper has a great texture to it. It has a fair amount of veins, a few bumps, a little wrinkle here and there. It looks deliciously natural.
After a nice cut, i took a few pre-light draws. The taste and smell is a buttery cocoa with the slightest bit of twang to it. The draw had the perfect balance to it; even as a novice, it was evident that whoever rolled this particular cigar was highly skilled.
After a nice toasting from a few matches and a good bit of anticipation, i finally started what would be a 2 hour journey. The stellar construction and quality tobacco effortlessly produced large plumes of a thick beige creamy smoke. Initially the cigar was quite bland and tasteless, contrary to the other reviews i read, which claimed a strong peppery spice to this maduro wrapped version of this cigar. After a couple more puffs, a nice flavor emerged. My ability to detect flavors is still developing, but this cigar presented a very friendly and inviting taste. The most prominent flavor: a creamy smoothness, and in the background i could taste a slight chocolate.
Into the second third, i picked up a peppery taste, but i would hardly call it spicy. The creamy smoothness of this cigar kept it from being spicy (which is perfect for me, im not a huge fan of the peppery spicy cigars). Unfortunately, the cigar went out. If i left it alone for more than about 30 seconds, it would try its hardest to go out. Luckily the taste made it hard to put it down for that long.
In the final third, the peppery flavor surpassed the creaminess, but it was still a smooth and inviting smoke. I smoked it down to the nub, and surprisingly, enjoyed the peppery, somewhat spicy twang of a finish. It never became bitter, which was obviously pleasing.
Despite some slight burn problems and its tendency to quickly go out, i am really looking forward to two i have left. I want to try this in the natural wrapper too. When the funds are there for me to buy my first box, it might just be a box of these. Usually i hate the taste that lingers in my mouth after a cigar, even a good one. This leaves me with a pleasant taste that i can only describe as creamy. Other flavors are there, but just too complex to describe as anything other than pleasant.
A great smoke to finish off a great day.
