well, what's a guy to do when you have the day off, Cigar Pass is down for maintenance, and the doggies are driving you nuts?
Why, you grab a cigar and go for a hike in the woods, that's what! And todays pleasure, and I do mean pleasure, would happen to be an Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 858 in Sun Grown.
Fall is in the air (snow is halfway down the mountains right near my house), temperature was a high of 45f, the dogs are bouncy as all hell due to the change in the weather, and I had this little beauty waiting for me.
Sorry for the lack of photos, but just picture it in your mind... yea baby!
The aroma off this beauty was nice... really nice! I like the Chateau SG, so I'm pleased with this so far. Clipping was easy, and the pre-light draw was spot on. Damn, but Fuente cigars always please me with their draw... so far!
Toasting the foot was uneventful, and the flame was put to the tobacco. First puff.. wow! Love that little Sun Grown 'tingle' you get from your lips on the wrapper. yum yum! And the draw stayed spot on, thru the entire smoke no less. Go figure.
The flavor... ah, the flavor. Again, non of my reviews will ever have in depth detail on the various flavor notes of this and that... but I know what I like and damn if I don't REALLY like this one! I now know what all the hubbub is about these (yes, it's my first). The sun grown taste was really strong during the first third of the cigar, and tended to lighted up during the middle third. And, strangly enough, I thought it came back, and with a vengence, during the last third!
And the smoke... wow! Even out in the woods, with a breeze, there seemed to be a cloud of smoke following me, and the dogs too. Lots of pillowy, volumous, flavor filled smoke. Yea! just what I like... right down to the tiny, tiny little nub I smoked it to.
You know how much I enjoyed this cigar? I bumped into a guy that was doing some work on the trail we were on, and he warned me of the moose carcass right on the side of the trail that I walked right past! I always am aware and looking for stuff like that as it's a bear magnet - but I was so deep in my enjoyment of the cigar I walked right past the damn thing and never noticed it. Oops! and it was, literally, right on the side of the trail. Good thing no bears were having a mid-day snack... :whistling:
if I ever get a chance at more of these, especially a box... I'm going for it. And Porter gave it a 'paws up' as well. He stayed fairly close while it was lit.
