OK, if I HAD to smoke an Acid Kuba Kuba, how bad is it gonna be? I am NOT a fan of flavored cigars in any sense of the term, and this one is supposed to be the most "aromatic" of them all. Just hope I can keep it down. :(

can you say P-U-K-E.....that's what comes to mind.

Why would you HAVE to smoke one, lose a bet? :(
I tried a kahlua a couple weeks ago, different line from the same company, that wasnt too bad, didnt seem like a cigar at all, but not horrible other than that. Kind of like drinking kahlua through a cigar. Supposedly it didnt have as much flavoring as the acids, so I cant imagine what an acid would be like.

You've had some decent cigars and now you wanna try a KubaKuba? Are you out of your FREAKIN' mind!!! I can see smoking one, if all you've ever smoked were Phillies Blunts and Grape White Owls - but C'MON...

These things are WAY over-aromafied, or whatever you want to call them. They literally REEK with ambrosia, flowers, all kinds of potpourri smells/flavors.

Oh yeah, I tried one and hated it, if you couldn't tell already.

:0 what the?? what gives??? You HAVE TO smoke one? Its like being told you have to smoke a week old turd from your backyard. Don't do it!

Listen, go have a seat, fire up a nice ISOM or Fuente and give this some real thought. I've tried flavor cigars and will never do that again.

Just a thought....
Darren

Cigars shouldnt smell like a hippie(dirty insence)...i think thats how you spell it! :p

Ive never had an Acid that i would call good...most ive chucked after a couple puffs.

I've heard that if you inhale an entire cannister of butane it numbs your sense of taste and smell. Maybe that would help.

We do sell a lot of them at the shop, but they're just not my sort of thing. I remember a sales rep offering me a huge new one they were considering releasing, and just gushing over how great it would be. The owner said "Give one to Gary, and if he likes it I'll buy the whole new line." This guy thought he had it made.

Next morning Frank asked me what I thought of it, and I honestly confessed that I lit it up in the truck when I left the store, and I almost made it across the parking lot before I threw it out the window. Thank goodness I had a couple 858 maduros stashed for such an emergency and immediately cleansed my palate. When the guy called later that day Frank told him we wouldn't be buying them.

But, to each his own.

edit: stupidity and i was laughin and mistyped half of it

On a serious note... I have seen little acid "mini's" at my local store. They were around a buck apiece. Pick one of those up if you want to try one, but don't say we didn't warn you!

I'll take the wildly unpopular stance of "they're not all that bad".

Although I've never had a Kuba Kuba, I've tried a couple of Acids and find them to be allright as an every once in a while smoke. Kind of switches things up. They aren't meant to be like an ISOM or Fuente. They are meant to be something totally different. If you take that into consideration, they become much more managable.

Everything is personal preference, but you won't enjoy it at all if you go into it wondering if it'll stay down.

BTW, I'm curious as to why you HAVE to smoke one!

I'm on the side of 'they suck'! But I wasn't expecting a sugary cigar, just not what I expect from a smoke.

Well, I'm joining the cigar club at my college and this is the first meeting I'm going to. This is the "selection" for the meeting. Unfortunately the last two meetings I missed were a Partagas 2004 seasonal blend and an H.Upmann Vintage Cameroon. I guess I don't HAVE to smoke it, but I just didn't want to go in and be a snob first day. One nice perk is that I'll have somewhere indoors to smoke this winter. :thumbs:I might just bring something else along.

Well, to add another dissenting voice:

What you can expect... The Kuba Kuba is not the worst of the Acid line. While it has the flavors like all Acids, the darker (Sumatra) Wrapper conceals all or most of the "chemical" part of the flavor (as opposed to other acids that are like smoking sticks of sewage or other chemicals). If Cigars are rated 1 to 10, all Drew Estate is pretty much 1-6. All Acids are 1-3 on the scale and I would rate the Kuba Kuba as a 2, or middle of the line for the Acids. IMO the mot smokable Acids are Nasty, Nefasto (Both "Red") and Extraordinary Larry ("Purple"). Naturals are a better Drew Estate Product and the La Vieja Habana (Regular and Early Years) are probably their best lines.

Yes, I had a (short) Drew Estate Phase early in my Cigar life, before I found real stogies.

I had one of the small Acid smokes given to me in my nO0b sampler. I was really curious.....until I smoked it. It was completely over "flavored" to my tastes; the damn thing tasted like....it had been dipped in "Old Spice"....I kid you not. I thought it was horrible. Three or four drags and it hit the ash try for good. I suppose everyone's tastes are different but these did NOT make me want to try another one....ever.

FWIW - B.B.S.

Well, we had our first meeting, and I can give the following personal endorsement for the Kuba Kuba.

Acid Kuba Kuba:
It's favorable to getting clubbed in the balls with a crowbar.

I still smell like I spent a week at a Woodstock commune, I knocked over my roomate's Kodiak wintergreen spitter and the room smelled better for it. :sign:

On a serious note, this is apparently the last flavored cigar we will be having, next week may be a Partagas Black or a Punch, I do have a place to smoke indoors, we will be getting a 50-60% discount at Cigars International, and the group seems to be generally a bunch of good guys. So this experience will reinforce how good every other cigar really is.

Well, there's one man's opinion.....

Krautle87 - if no one has suggested so yet, I can STRONGLY recommend you (and any new guys) get in on a nO0bie Sampler Trade. You'll get aged sticks from a great BOTL that will really open your eyes...and maybe even make a new friend in the process. Highly recommended....

Cheers - B.B.S.

I was considering that (noob sampler), I may do that when I'm home around Christmas time, but I don't want to deal with the college's mail system, it could get a bit obnoxious. That is on my list of priorities for the future though. :)

My roommate is a huge fan of Acid's C-Notes.
Switched from cigarettes to them......
