Well I was out for derby the other night and brought a few smoke along and they were tremendous so I thought I would do a small review on both of them. This is a first, so go easy on me.
Ashton Wizard:
First off great construction and pleasant across the nose very earthy. I left my cutter in the car and had to use a punch on my lighter. Next the light up came easy and the draw was perfect. First hints of spice with a great after taste. Great burn with no touch ups and prgressed to a semi sweet taste with hints of chocolate, the spice tended to tone down about half way through and coffe/chocolate tast prevailed. It was a dark chocolate sweet, difficult to describe. I nubbed it all the way until I couldn't take the burning o fingers anymore.. An great smoke.
Next was a LFD factory press. I was a little aprehensive because of the shape. Looks like a long match box with a rounded bottom. Across the nose very sharp piercing smell, you could tell this one was gonna be a strong one. Once again I had to punch it. Initial light had a tight draw which was what I expected. I must comment that is was an odd cigar to hold in the hand while smoking it and it didn't fit well in an ashtray except leaning on its side. This one had a smooth taste for about thirty minutes then it picked up the pace, kinda like a tasty BBQ sauce that makes your saliva glands cramp up. WOW this thing came on like a freight train. Just holding it in my mouth, and if I happend to catch a whiff of the thing burning it made me sneeze. A few of my friends made me leave while smoking it cause it such a powerful smell, very sharp Now as for taste, the cigar followed the same note it was a smooth flavor with a sharp after taste, not a bad thing at all very satisfying. It was a earthy taste with a cinnamon and chocolate. Great smoke volume but not a crowd pleaser.. But hey I enjoyed it. I know the BBQ comparison maybe odd but thats the way it affected me, it made my mouth water.
Well hopefully you have had the chance to enjoy these great cigars, and if not go pick em up. I know the LFD was about 13 and I think the Ashton was about the same price.. To me I though they were worth the price, once again I am new at this so it seemed like a fair price but what do I know... I think cigars taste like BBQ sauce... Oh well hope you enjoyed it.
