Apologize for taking a bit to write this. Have not been a big fan of writing reviews as cannot always find the words to describe them. Anyways,
While on vacation at the end of Jan/beg. Feb. decided to raid my humi and smoke a bunch of nice smokes to celebrate beoing in weather 50deg. warmer than at home.
Two of them were ERDM Choix Supreme's, one from my buying club - JNL SEP 04, and one, from a CW bro, from late '01.
- My first one of the day was the 2004.
Was sitting by the pool, listening to some tunes, getting a tan, and brought it out.
This cigar had one of the best pre-light aromas out there, deep and intoxicating.
The wrapper was a very dark chocolate, almost maduro. There were no prominate veins, a fine triple cap, and no soft/hard spots.
Lighing up, the cigar gave me a great ERDM taste.
The burn was almost perfect, had to correct it once, and the ash was a light-grey color and firm.
Have to say I enjoyed it.
Was a very good all-around smoke. Never got harsh or tunneled. Had some hints of herbal/flowers with a taste of honey, but also smooth and a little light.
- The second was from late '01.
Went to Disney with some friends to party it up some. Brought the '01 for myself and another '04 for my friend.
The construction on this too was excellent, no problems. The wrapper was at the other end of the spectrum, a light colorado claro color.
Sadly this one didn't smoke as well. Had some problems lighting it and it had a tendancy to go out if I wasn't paying attention/ a/k/a talking w/ friends.
On the other hand, when it was one, it was on! Similar tastes to the first, but a little mellower on the herbal-ness and a little more tobacco taste to it.
Burn prob. aside, was a fantastic cigar that I enjoyed on my night out!
On a lighter note, while at the Sosa store in Disney, saw a roller by the name of Jerman Sequeda. He was a former roller at both the Partagas and RyJ factories. When we were talking, one of my friends [have to say they are now moving away from cigarettes and towards a finer smoke ] asked about the blend of the ones he was making [fuente tobacco w/ Conn. wrapper] and how it tasted. Sequeda replied that they were nice smokes, but not as good as the puro that I was smoking! Thought that was cool as it was unbanded and he was about 5ft away but could tell the diff. in a cigar like that.
