Sometimes it just clicks; the planets align, and the smoke and the beverage complement themselves perfectly.

The new house is clicking right along, and I wanted to kick back and have a little splurge to end the weekend. Well, this did it. "The Abyss" is my favorite beer on the planet. It's a very special, incredibly complex beer. It would take a real cigar to stand up to a beer this complex, and I have to say the Padron 45th didn't disappoint. Turned out to be an incredible paring; the flavors of the two played back and forth against each other, complementing the best they both had to offer. I'm sorry it only lasted an hour...!!....

Cheers, gents - B.B.S.

Nice Tom!

The Abyss also goes very well with a Padron 44th Family Reserve Maduro. I think it's the coffee and espresso notes in both that seem to complement each other. The licorice would go with almost any rich cigar IMO.

Thanks to a very generous member here, I got to try some of this awesome HTF treat myself recently. :)

Glad to hear the house is coming along, and you're enjoying life in typical fashion my friend.

Good to hear the house is coming along well.

Sounds like a great cigar pairing. I have been able to try the Abyss, but not the 45th Padron. I can only imagine the flavor that they add to each other.

Sounds like a great pairing.

Are those beef jerky dog treats in the background? :D

See, now I don't know how much I want to take this advice. Who knows how much the Beef Jerky Dog treats skewed Tom's taste buds?
Or, do I need to get some beef jerky dog treats to get it all to work?
Tom, please add more specifics!!!

Not to worry, my friend - !! The dog treats weren't consumed personally, rather used to keep the hounds at bay so I could enjoy my grog and smoke.....

Besides, those were the chicken dog jerky treats...I STRONGLY prefer the beef dog jerky treats......:p

Glad to hear the house is coming along well Tom. Great choice on pairings!
We're in the new house, doing the final tuning. A bazillion things to hook up, hang, install, etc.... My man room is the last room to get finished, and is still in boxes. The Staebell and a brand new floor safe did make their way in there, though......;)

Hurry up and get the man room done for my July trip!

Nice looking pair there Tom. That beer looks yummy. I'll have to look for some of that and try it with a T110.

Thanks for the info. I could almost taste it. I am on my way to
beverage market. I hope they carry it.........

Good call. Padrons are the perfect match for dark ales, and you can't go wrong with Deschutes.

Sounds like a very relaxing time you just had, moments like that don't always occur on every cigar. Glad you got to sit back and hear the crickets chirp in your new backyard (I think).

Which BTW, the last pic I remember seeing of your house was an empty lot, any chance of seeing what you built?

Tom...that beer is Fan-f'in-tastic! The batch you sent us was off the charts good. I drank a bottle just 2 weeks ago and smoked one of Al's My Father cigars with it....sublime.

When you're right, your just plain right!

Best thing is, I still have one more bottle of the 2009 Reserve left!

I buy all this that I can when I see it. The 2009 was good, I like the 2010 better though. Have not had a chance to have any of the 2011 until after September when it is aged properly. This beer will kick your arse however, so I have to make sure that I have consumed some food before partaking. Great review, and I am looking forward to heading off to the liquor store to get some more of the Abyss.

Sounds like a great combo. Huge beer fan myself, I will have to keep a look out for the brew. The smoke is one my favorites.

Fantastic beer, I can't speak on the smoke though. I will definitely try this paring in the future! Thanks for the heads up.
