A humidor for Arizona

Ok I've read that 70 degrees is ideal for storing cigars and that at much above that they can have issues with beatles. Well my bedroom hits 95 during the day with the AC on...And it's the bedroom that my wife would let me store cigars in. What do I need to do to keep the cigars safe? Mind you I am new and have only smoked a few cigars so far. Right now I have 3 cigars in a plastic travel humidor and they seem alright, and even if they are not I can afford to lose 3 cigars. So what do I need to do so I can keep 100 (or 200) cigars safely? I've seen the wine cooler things, but am curious to how much one would run with the shelves and drawers.

And out of curiosity how do they store cigars in Cuba and South America? Are they temp controlled at 70?

Charlie, I live here in AZ as well and here are my observations: Below 70 degrees is very safe. Between 70 and 80 has some risk but from what I've observed, you should be ok. Between 80 and 90 is very high risk, and above 90 is asking for it.

HERE is my solution.

You can pick up a Vinotemp on sale for $150-180. IMO, much better than buying a regular humidor at that price.

Hope this helps.

I just bought mine last month
28 bottle Vinotemp: $150
Beautiful spanish cedar shelves from MTMouse: PM for quote
Buying more singles and boxes to fill: $500+

Charlie thinking hes only gonna keep 100 (or 200) cigars and not buy more: priceless

Its such a bad impulse... cigar buying that is. Def. go for the wine cooler. It was the best move I made. You'll also want about 2lbs of HF beads.

Thanks guys. I guess I better start saving up for a wineadoor. My wife is just gonna love this one...LOL Oh well, I guess she will get over it eventually.

Or think BIG and get an A/C controlled Aristocrat. You may outgrow the vinotemp faster than you think.

They are expensive, but what Bob Staebell puts together is truly a beautiful work of art. I myself have an Aristocrat, and it's everything I could of ever asked for in a furniture humidor. Since I live in Michigan I don't need to worry to much about the temp, but the A/C controlled Aristocrat would last you a life time.

Wow those look quite nice...No way in hell I will be able to afford one of those any time soon though. Certainly the best looking solution I have seen though.
