We all know just how incompetent the USPS is and most of us have reached a level of frustration lately! TO SAY THE LEAST!

Thankfully, @rbbrock brought it to my attention that Pirateship.com was a good option for shipping. It took a couple minutes to create an account, it gives you options on how you wish to ship, and it was less expensive!

Hopefully this will save us all a little money and a lot of aggravation!

I will be using it moving forward for sure!

I’ve used UPS for a while now due to bad results from the USPS.

I noticed UPS weighs the packages as well as measures them.

So it appears that I would need a scale to ship from my house.

If so, are there any recommendations for one?

From what I have noticed, most boxes have the dimensions on them, usually the bottom.
And any cheap food scale will work for weight, unless you are shipping car parts or gold bricks...LOL

But for cigars I use one of the many small kitchen scales laying around my house

I use this for small packages and my bathroom scale for large packages. I'll bet you can get a small scale like this for under $10

You can get a hand held scale at Walmart/Amazon for suitcases $12-$15. They have digital ounces and pounds and seem to be somewhat accurate. If your weight is anywhere near the next pound quote the shipping for the next pound. There are always slight differences with the scales at the PO. John

I had that same scale, I bought it for brewing, but it turned out to be to small for putting a 5 gallon bucket on.
I then used it for food, but the gram resolution was always in multiples of 2, but the oz was never an issue.
I also have that same one at my office for mail. At home I have a couple more accurate ones for baking/cooking.

The one I use in the kitchen is a very small one and measures grams and ounces. The bigger one, which some dick head made fun of, works very well. 😂

Thanks for bringing this up. Printed my first UPS label today. I just have to get some actual sticky labels instead of using printer paper.

I found a digital kitchen scale up in the cabinet that’s perfect for cigar shipping.

@whopper did you have to get a specific label to print on?

I typically don't mind using printer paper because I have packing tape in my hand from sealing up the box anyway and it seems to be six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Either tape the paper on or unload and reload your printer with labels and then unload and reload with printer paper.
