As my brother LuckyDawg began a new job after a long unemployment, our own Fast4Dr brother sent LuckyDawg a package for Congrats. In this package he included the Partagas Culebra and stated that it was for LuckyDawg to share with his Dad, and his brother (ME ).
On Saturday this past weekend we did just that. The theatrics involved in cutting the string and taken the braid apart is what I believe attracts a lot of smokers to this Machine Made Vitola, but the smoking ain't nuttin' to complain about either.
These things were so twisted; it was like "Do you think these things will even burn? Let alone straight" Well we went for it anyway. Each was clipped with a Xi NRA cutter, and then passed out to the smokers in this ordeal. The prelight draw was flawless, (is there a certain turbulence advantage in the twisted air pathway? who knows) and the flavor was nutty with a hint of Licorice. I toasted the foot and nosed it, the smell was very nutty with a lot of Tobacco Smell (go figure )
It lit quite easily which I feel is consistent with the smaller ring cigars, and the first draw was smooth as silk and very flavorful with hints of Spice and walnuts. The burn was….well, tell me, if the burn got off, who would know? ??? The flavor was constant to the nub, very little change at all with the exception of the Spice kicking up in the final 3rd.
When I got it down to about ¾” I clipped the fire off and chewed on the remaining ½” nub. I know….ewwwwwww :0 , but that flavor was just too good to waste.
Thank you Fast4Dr for the experience, it was fan-freakin-tastic!
