A few minutes with Rudy

Rudy Giulani was in Dallas tonight and I was invited to smoke a cigar with him. There were about 35 people there and I only got a few minutes with the mayor. Someone asked about Huckabee as a running mate...when I pointed out Huckabee was possibly for a national smoking ban, Rudy laughed well he is out. But said he had asked one person to be his Vice President....but he turned him down. Joe Torre.

I asked how he could have screwed up with Bloomberg and the smoking ban. Rudy said Bloomberg used to be a cigar smoker...he said he had no idea.

Asked for his favorite smokes...he said he loved the No Juego Con Texas cigar I gave him ( a special blend by La Aurora made only for Texas, just 200 boxes) . He also loves Padron Annniversarios especially the new 80th, Don Carlos and anyting by Don Pepin. He really likes the new San Cristobal.

Just today I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a smoke with Rudy... then I see this post tonight. :laugh:

Lucky man, I imagine he's very interesting to converse with. :thumbs:

Edit to add... I briefly shook his hand at a quick campaign stop he made here in Los Angeles! That's gotta count for something... :whistling:

An interesting bit of trivia - Rudy actually met his current wife, Judith, in May 1999 at Club Macanudo (a place he frequented).

I doubt Mitt is a Brother... except in the "Amen, brother" kind of way. I don't know any devout Mormons who smoke.

Yeah I doubt Romney, a mormon, would smoke. The only other cigar smokers I know of are Fred and Bill Richardson on the dem side.....but Richardson signed a smoking ban for NM.
