Today was a great day down in TJ. Smoked an H.Upmann #2 while I rolled down there. Found the La Casa de Habana pretty easy. The guys there were real friendly. I told them that I came down to see the famous roller. The guys there were familiar with CP and CW. I was immediatly handed a freshly rolled oversized Torpedo. What a sales pitch this was! The cigar was absolutely fantastic, strong and complex. It had a beautiful dark oily wrapper that was so silky. After talking Cuban cigars with them for a while I inquired about the price of a bundle. Holy $hit!! :0 Thier answer was $32 per cigar with no bundle discount. I needed some time to think. :whistling: Meanwhile the store owner asked if I wanted to go see his warehouse. Yep! :D He took me over there and I took some pics. I will post those on another thread.

After thinking long and hard about this purchase I figured **** it! I'll only live once! So I agreed to buy a bundle. I watched most of them get rolled. The next cigar I was handed as a comparison was a VR Farm Rolled. It did not even compare to the Taboado. After I finished that one I was instantly handed another "special blend" cigar by Taboado himself, he even handed me his lighter. Wow! What a killer smoke! He included about 10 of those "special" ones in my bundle. From what I could understand it was an "old" blend that he used.

Here is the inside of the store.

All in all a great day! I am finishing it off with one of his Robusto Extras. Ya, I bought a few of those too. Smoked one on the drive home too. :D They are absolutely out of this world too!

I would have to say that this guys smokes are some of the best, if not the best, smokes I have ever tried.

It looks great.

It is so worth it. I bought 10 of his custom rolled cigars last month. But you actually seen your rolled and smoked one while doing so. Awesome. Those cigars look great. Smoke one and put the rest away for a year to age and then you will have the best cigar you ever smoked.

That is fricken' great. Thanks for sharing your day with us. Ya lucky bastid :p Enjoy those cigars.

If he is there for the whole month... Looks like you have alot of reasons to go for a drive now! :p Very nice pictures also. I was just looking the other day for pictures on how cigars were rolled. That gave me a little insight.

Edit: I'm curious, how long does it take to roll a cigar? Please excuse the noob now. :D

Thanks for sharing atuck...
The pictures are great and the cigars sound even better.
If they are that good freshly rolled, I can't imagine how good they will be after a few years in your humidor (if they last that long). :p

nice, very nice  now thats how you buy isoms! straight from the man :D

Sr. Rodolfo is looking to be in good health! I hope the blends are better this year. Great pictures!

So freakin jelous. Maybe the GF would be down for a day trip to TJ so I could try just one. Atuck could you give directions once you pass the border? I havn't been to TJ since I was 18, we always go down further to Rosarita or San Felipe.

BTW how tough was it to get the cigars across the border?

Can someone enlighten me what is TJ?
Thanks for that info.
