Another smoke from the sampler I recently bought, I decided to give the 5 Vegas Classic Robusto a shot. Sorry, no pictuers; this one was smoked at work.
Temperature: 76 degrees Fahrenheit
Abient RH: 22%
Wind: none
Sunset, high haze, dusty
This is a very solid feeling robusto, firm, with a lightly toothy texture, a russet brown wrapper and very light veins. Altogether a very attractive smoke.
I punched the cap, took a test draw and realized this one was very tight so I clipped more off but the draw still stayed pretty tight. It wasn't plugged but still shaping up to be a struggle.
First Third
Initial puffs didn't reveal much more than a good woodiness and subdued tobacco bitteress on the back of my tongue which dropped off towards the end of the first third. The burn was razer sharp and stayed that way to the nub. The ash was a very uniform white with few ridges, zero flakiness and hung on like a panicked climber on the steep side of El Capitan.
Second & Final Third
The flavors stayed very consistent throughout. A hint of sweet woodiness with zero pepper, well balanced and mediumish boldness overall. Burn and ash were exactly the same as the first third. The only blemish was that the wrapper popped twards the end of the 2nd third but the lose wrapper didn't affect the burn or draw an iota and I smoked this one until it was too hot to hold.
At less than $3 each by the box of 25, I can give this cigar an unqualified recommendation despite the draw issues. Not as flavorful as others I've smoked, but its less than half the price of those.
