This is my first review, so I'll do my best.
Recently picked up some 5 Vegas series 'A' Atomic (4.5 x 54).
First, I'll start by saying this cigar was described as "medium-full bodied" and "a firecracker of a cigar." However I found it to be more on the mild side, though VERY flavorful.
Construction/Prelight:
Very nicely made cigar, some veins present, very dark but smooth maduro wrapper with a bit of an oily sheen. Draw was nice and easy but not 'loose' and the wrapper had a nice taste on the lips. My nose was picking up a slight chocolately scent with notes of dried fruit like raisins.
Smoke:
Lit very easily, needed no touchups - burning razor straight from foot to nub and held the ash about half length of the cigar. Smoke started off very mild for the first 1/2 inch with hints of cocoa and cinnamon and a bit of cedar and leather aromas.
The cocoa flavor got stronger through the entire smoke, with the addition of mild spice after the first 1/3. Into the second 1/3, the spice notes picked up to match the strong cocoa flavor and the cedar aroma was gone, replaced by a stronger oakey/leathery aroma.
The last 1/3 of the smoke started to get a bit harsh, but I stuck with it, as the good flavors never disappeared. The smoke definitely did pick up strength at this point to meet that "firecracker" description. And I was definitely tasting that leathery aroma now.
All in all a GREAT smoke (for me - a new smoker and a chocolate-lover).
