I had a 75ct desktop humidor and then searched the pages and decided to go with a nice wine cooler humidor. It worked out great but had to sell due to finances. I am looking for a cheap desktop humidor now. I really like the glass top ones that will hold around 75-100. I was looking at this one...

Does anyone know of something like that and maybe a little cheaper as finances are really tight right now. I am aware of the "fake humidors" on ebay and this one seems ligit to me. Thanks

If moneys tight, buy a bigger Tupperware container and a Boveda pack, that'll hold you over for quite a while.

Yeah, I could do that. I am going to do a search on a Boveda pack, I was going to get beads from HeartFelt.

Ahh, looks like the same thing as a humidipak, if that is the case I have one recharging right now.

Take your chances, but I'd go with the Glad Flex & Seal + Beads.

Just put it in a sealed container with a wet paper towel (not physically touching) and it will suck up the moisture again. Then only thing is you CAN'T let it dry all the way out to the point that it gets crunchy, then it is garbage. My searching found that the Boveda is able to do the same thing. It takes a week or so to recharge. Many have done extensive tests to find that they control right at the target as if new.

Very interesting, I'm going to have to give this a try. Thanks.

No Problem, I have recharged mine a couple times now. I tested it with my Little Havana Hygrometer, before I had to sell it, and it worked great.

Unless you are looking to buy a humidor for aesthetic reasons I wouldn't buy that. Guys here have been problems in the past with ebay humidors. Inexpensive humidors in general don’t hold humidity well. I have 3, and none will even get close to an acceptable humidity level in the winter time. A much better value is a tupperdor. I have 2 with 65% beads, and they hold 65% all day, just spray a little distilled water on the beads every week or 2. I would go to Wallmart or similar store, and get a large plastic food storage container. I have 2 rubbermaid containers that hold 60-80 cigars each, and cost about $10 each. I started out with 1 oz of beads ($10.99) in a tube in each container. Just make SURE there is a good seal (can’t stress this enough) on the container, and do not use one that has been used to store food in before. If you are like most you will run out of room in a month or less, and will need a coolerdor, more beads, and a higher credit limit on your credit cards.

Look into Savoy humidor sold by holts. They are $19.95 for small and large size.
They say it has minor cosmatic defects but I couldn't really tell when I got one and works great!~

edited to add : hmm.. seems like they are sold out of the large ones... You might want to call them and find out~

You should give a coolerdor a try. They are inexpensive, offer a ton of storage space and are easy to set up with RH Beads

Darn, that would have been perfect...

Mark speaks with a lot of wisdom.

Yeah, I just don't like the way they look. I like to have the cigars out in the room. I think I am just going to do a Tupperdor.
I'm not sure what kind of tupperware type container you're going to use, but I can't imagine it being much better looking than a cooler...

Sounds like there's a lot of concern about this purchase. (I've read you're other threads) No use hemming and hawing about the whole thing. Get what you want and can afford. Don't get something that you don't want just because it's cheap and don't buy something you can't afford. If you just want some smokes around, why bother with a big fancy humidor. I have a rule that I go by: If the humidor costs more than the smokes with which it's filled, I spent too much on the humidor and not enough on the cigars.

If money is tight, maybe you should rethink things?? Cigars are not inexpensive (especially here in MN). Is this really something you want to dive right back into? I'm not trying to sound preachy, but there's no use in putting yourself in hardship just to have a few smokes around...

This is a hobby. A relaxing hobby. I just don't see the use of going through all of this.

Maybe I'm weird or something...

I agree with you. I am not diving right back in. I haven't smoked a cigar since I had to sell my collection. Once I get some in the house again I will probably only smoke 1-2 a month for a while because of finances. I am going to go tupperdor because it is cheaper than a cooler and I won't need the big size. I know this is an expensive hobby, that is why I posted a thread about "cheap cigar recommendations" so I will only be spending around $4-6 a month. Thanks
