2014 looks like a great year for ISOMs so far...

The latest "Cigar Insider" which is the internet news letter from Cigar Aficionado, has several highly rated CC's.

If you look (or like me, glance) at these each month, they usually snub the isom's every chance they get.

93' and 94's are not seen very often...

Has anyone been smoking 2014's? If so, what do you think?

Also, you can say the "Tubo" is the one to order...

Like I said before - I hope the current trend continues. I've not smoke a 14 yet.

Bill, Those are good ratings. I had no idea that they snubbed Cuban Cigars (unless you're being facetious..and it went right over my head) I have often heard folks insist they prop up Cubans. Nice to hear a different perspective.

I am also very happy to see Abe Flores getting some recognition. I have a great deal of respect for his blending and his palate, and predicted yrs ago he would rise to the top echelon. I am gratified to see it possibly happening.

What's funny is that I've had bad luck overall with tubos....little white spots I'm pretty sure aren't plume..... :whistling:

Yes, I am not kidding... I have been following CA for quite a while, and they are just getting back into rating the CC's where they should be...  They have no incentive to praise CC's because they get zero advertising dollars from Cuba... But the last few years they have gotten slammed by aficionados for slanting the scores in the favor of the advertisers...

I've had the same problem with tubos Tom so I now just take them out and store them without the tubos just to be safe. It has happened to me on multiple occasions.

That's my beef with this magazine and the reason I don't buy it.

Is the blend in a "Tubos" different or is it just packaging?

Very rarely do I see good comments from CA for all the reasons Bill already stated.  Nice to hear otherwise.

I haven't gotten into anything 2014 yet, but this is good news!

J, they "say" it is the same, but I have always had better looking (darker, oilier) and better tasting cigars from the tubes, and apparently CA experienced the same...

Same here, I either take them out, or wipe them down with a nano-silver solution (kills mold spores, without affecting taste) that I create in my lab...

Bill are the ingredients for your nano-silver solution readily available? Sounds like a useful formulation for some of us to use.

I just noticed that these are from 2013 and 2011, usually they rate the latest production cigars, but after reading the actual reviews, the R y J is from 2011, and the others are from 2013...
