An update on this beer. First of all I had it 2 weeks ago and it was tasty but there was zero carbonation. Apparently this is a known problem that may or may not rectify itself with some bottle conditioning. I am not sure why Lost Abbey released it in this condition but they knew about it.. I am waiting for others to try it before I trade for it.

Brother Jonas,

I regret the fact that I must agree with you :( Joey whom those that are members of BA know well. Refused to sell what he received due to the very fact you pointed out. This batch has been a crap shoot at best and for the $ this is fetching, frankly it is not acceptable.

It is nice to know that even though this beer is highly sought after and in high demand, a reputable dealer and beer lover refuses to sell it.

From what is known in local beer circles, everyone is awaiting to see what LA does about the carbonation issues. I am one of the one's on the fence awaiting the overall verdict on this tasty brew.

Cheers,

I've heard (actually from Joey) that the Older Vis isn't all the way carbonated yet either.

That too is another bummer Justin, I will be sending a driver by Joey's on Friday. Can't wait to see what goodies he has to offer. :D

it seems like to me LA is folding under the demand, QUANTITY before QUALITY

just picked up a bottle and was curious if this is 2009 release why does it say 2008 on the bottle?

The recent release was 375ml bottles with the 2008 date. Those are the brandy version that are very under-carbonated. Tomme Arthur of The Lost Abbey posted this a few days ago in response to someone else asking a similar question..

It would appear that you have received one 2007 Brandy Angel's Share (750) and the 375 is the 2008 release (just released last month).
As stated in the previous post, it would be beneficial to store the 375 in a warm environment to ensure proper carbonation.
Thanks
Tomme

Jonas,
thanks for the info, but i got a 750 bottle with the 2008 on it. Should I store it out of the fridge for a while? and is this the 2008 bottle i have the brandy batch?

Mike,

If you have the 750ml bottle, then you have the Brandy version from this year. This is what will be made available to selected vendors and will fecth around $30 per. At the release last month they had the 375ml, as well as the 750ml.

Unfortunately from what I have heard the carbonation issue is with the 750ml for sure :( . I have not really heard much one way or another about the 375ml. The only difference was they are half the size/price, and posibly considred a little rarer based on the fact that they are a brewery only release.

Cheers,
