2001 Vigeros Especiales #1 38 X 7 1/2 LONG Panatela

A nice looking reddish cigar with a funny little pigtail (stored at 64% humidity). Great construction with a nice oily sheen and some plume on the wraper.

Upon lighting the draw was tight making it necessary for me to massage the knots a bit before the draw became tolerable.

The first inch delivered some twang, fleeting hints of sugar cane and slight Cuban tobacco flavor. But these flavors disapeared quickly becaming papery and bland. The body was light at best.

After 2 inches the cigar produced flavors of dry tobacco and earth resembling a cigarette.
Just beyond the half way point the flavor of cuban tobacco leaf intensified adding a couple hints of watered down mocca but nothing interesting. This continued until I extinguished this Especiales #1 with about a third remaining.

I have tried a number of the Vigeros Especiales #1 and it ranks as one of the least interesting cigars I have ever smoked. IMHO!

Or maybe I should have drank more cognac while burning this stogie?

I picked some of these up and found them very grassy and somewhat unremarkable as you commented when compared to the Monte esp #2 and the cohiba lancero.
