This is a well-balanced, smooth-smoking cigar with a mild, sweet tobacco flavor and aroma. The cigars are blended by a gentleman named Juan Rodriguez who works out of Don Leoncio, a little tabacalera located on the outskirts of Santiago in the Dominican Republic. When you have a small operation you can keep quality high, and that was one of the first things that impressed me when I sampled this very cigar a couple of months ago.
The filler and binder are all long, fully-aged Dominican Cuban-seed tobaccos finished with a pristine Connecticut shade wrapper. The smoke is mellow, toasty and delicately spicy. This "Lonsdale" is a nice size, too. At 6¼" x 46, technically it's a "Grand Corona," and reminds me of the often out-of-stock Arturo Fuente "8-5-8 Flor Fina," not just in size, but by its flavor profile. Although the Fuente has a Cameroon wrapper, you may want to consider the Dominican 4K Lonsdale as an alternative.
