I think we basically agree - an accurate hygrometer, regardless of storage type, is critical. My tautology was true, of course, but oversimplified as they tend to be. Blue is blue is always true but there are shades of blue. :P A coolerdor with a good seal is about as stable as it gets...

True, as far as hygrometers are concerned. I recalibrate mine every few years. Also, redundacy doesn't hurt. I have a few hygrometers. But my coolerdor is very stable and with lots of beads and cigar boxes. But to each his own is the hobbiest's creed, I agree.

I have drifted more toward Gary's view that once you have a stable storage system it tends to keep itself, well, stable. That being said the remote systems do make it easier to check. Don't think I need to check it every minute but then I don't have the inventory I used to have, either.
