I think its because different weather-reporters report on weather in different regions. So, the regional weather people for the Carolinas haven't had to deal with this type of storm for years. Regional weather reporters for Louisiana may be slightly more blase.

Its a national strike, which will cross all industries. The people employed in the cigar industry have friends, family and loved ones who are directly affected by the issues leading up to the civil crisis. The cigar industry is just swept up in the protests.
