I'd go bigger. The Vinotemp 28s usually go on sale several times a year. I wasn't totally satisfied with my 28 bottle TEC, so I went with a larger compressor fridge with 5.0 cubic feet of space for $200. It works nice with a hydra and a few extra fans.

I found this thread helpful. I bought 13 pds of KLH and used a cooler to condition the beads. I decided to use a hydra device and set it at 60%. I stirred the contents twice a day for twelve days. It worked out great. I've used all the beads in my wine cooler and small frigdador.
