Use wood glue. If you ever want to get them off, just take the lid off and pace it in the microwave for a few seconds. It will do great.

Looks like you faired pretty wel.  Just sand it with 100 grit moving down to 150-200 grit.   Clean it up and re-condition it and you will be good to go. Acetone is a very volitile chemical.  It will flash off almost immediately.  I wouldn't worry about it.
