    Varying your cigar collection

Light This said it quite well, and also some others did too.   I would just say keep buying fivers, samplers and find out what you like, all the while remembering that your palate will change.   Before you know it, in a couple of years you will have a lot more cigars on hand than you ever...

    NewAir 281 Power Outage/Temp Reset

They handle loss of AC power fine. You also can set delay, so that in the event of a quick blip loss of power that is barely more than momentary - if hooked up to a compressor unit, the sealed system has time to equalize before starting back up. This is not needed on a peltier unit.   I cannot...

    NewAir 281 Power Outage/Temp Reset

MY whynter resets also. Since I didn't want it to pull down if I was gone for several weeks, I bought a Johnson Temp control. Also, Tstat on Whynter started acting flaky     Really are slick and more consistent than the factory tstats.

Kalita Wave "Pour Over" Coffee brewer. A+

the Baratz Vario is a great grinder. IIRC, has repeatable settings that are easy to return to which are really good for those doing espresso, pour over and whatever.   It was not available when I kitted out my coffee station. For the pour over, I am using a Mazzer Super Jolly.   I have been...

Kalita Wave "Pour Over" Coffee brewer. A+

What sort of   yep. We're picky about coffee.   What are you using for a pitcher?    I tried everything in the house, and nothing worked well without the long, narrow spout. Even when I got the Hario I had to consciously slow down.   I believe that while doing a pourover properly...

Kalita Wave "Pour Over" Coffee brewer. A+

several weeks ago, just bought hario pour over kettle, and Bee House dripper to use while on vacation.   Picked that because it was the only thing I could find available locally before I left on vacation.   Works surprisingly well.   When traveling by car, used to take a Mazzer Major grinder and...

    Best $200 box of cigars?

Tatuaje 7th Reserva ( including Capa Especial) Illusione Holy Lance maduro, and F9 Illusione Epernay Le Matin, and Le Elegance   Partagas 898 PL Encantos   Those are somewhere around that price, might have to catch some on sale - some can be had cheaper on sale.

Watches; relegated to Fashion Accessory or still "needed"?

I have used my phone as a timepiece for years, and no watch.   Went on a cruise for several weeks and much of the time there was no cell service, bought an 8 dollar watch to use then. It lasted three weeks (although the band didn't) so I figured I got my 8 bucks worth.

    Guiness Extra Stout vs. Draught

Actually, I always pour to ensure a good head regardless of the beer. Gotta say, I love good head

    Guiness Extra Stout vs. Draught

I will readily agree that in my several trips to Ireland, every Guiness I have had there is better than what I have had in other countries.   I. readily dislike any and all draught purchased in the US, particulary those with the ball in it.   The extra stout that is brewed in Canada, is not bad...

    Avallo Accumonitor Humidifier Review

Just a note to say that I purchased an Avallo in Spring of 2014, and use a Johnson A419 for temp control. The way that works is a probe is placed inside the wineador and then the wineador AC line plugs into the Johnson. The Johnson kills power when the Tstat is satisfied, and when tstat calls...

    My NewAir wineador build

Great looking trays! Nice job on the fans :)   1 - wipe mold from any cigars that have it and then keep them separate from the other cigars to keep it from spreading. Plastic bags or five finger bags should be fine, toss them after you smoke the cigars.   2. Calibrate your hygrometers.  ...

Temp issue on new wineador New Air AW 180e Unit

Thank you for your post, you as usual make an excellent point. Well, it was late and maybe I say what I was thinking as well as I might have. :whistling:  My wife says I have a bad habit of this.   Even so, he possibly would do better with just one shelf - if so wire would be fine and help with...

Temp issue on new wineador New Air AW 180e Unit

I suggest you wait a couple of months before making a final decision due to space concerns.   As a practical matter, I suggest you consider using boxes and trays with no shelves. stack trays on top of each other and those on top of boxes.   Shelves will only take up more space and limit space...

    Ordered new Wineador

In all this, I just used what I had on hand.   Had some clips quite similar to this, may or may not have been this particular clip this is just an illustrative picture that I readily found. Not sure the dimensions of this particular one will work correctly.  ...

    Dry Boxing

Don't forget that the RH you are reading or the Boveda is providing is only that of the free air in the enclosed space.   The actual moisture content of the cigars will take some time, usually longer than you would think to reach an equilibrium.   It sure as hell takes a lot longer than I had...
