    Fridge and Wine cooler Guide

After years of operating a 128 bottle compressor driven wineador, when the humdification device failed I put another coolidor in the basement. I kept cigars in boxes in the wineador and also kept the hygrometers in boxes, to read % the cigars should be. Even so, the compressor system cycling...

Beer tastes better out of copper.

I generally used to prefer beer warmer also, particularly stouts and heavier beers However, having been suddenly taken drunk too many times, I don't drink them .as regularly. I have a keezer with three taps that I keep stocked with homebrews. I usually brew them to roughly 7% ABV. Those I...

Beer tastes better out of copper.

Beer tastes better out of copper. To me, anyhow. I have been drinking beer for over 55 years. I have seen a lot of changes over those decades. However, never once thought of drinking from copper. Christmas of 2019 I was given as a gift a couple of copper tankards. I soon knew I preferred the...

    Cooler-dor 101

150 qt cooler = 5.0 cu feet Shelving $10/$12 weather stripping to use as a gasket about $2 Any strapping you have on hand to pull it tight As long as the cooler has places for you to slide the shelves in, you just buy wire shelving to fit and cut with a hacksaw. It winds up neater than you...

Walk In Humidor Gone Crazy Giving Cigars a Bath

I've been buying cigars on line for well over five years and always been happy. I would prefer to support my local shop, but he doesn't carry what I prefer. There may be a problem today with USPS delivery, but other than that I have not had any issues.

    Plume or Mold?

In terms of mold, be careful on cigars that have cedar wrappers. I had some Anejos that I had to pull the cedar wrappers from. It seems to love to hide under the cedar.

    Today's Smoke 2020

Por Larranaga Encantos Exclusivo Asia Pacifico I purchased around 2013, box codes were lost with cardboard packing and are not on the varnished box. One of my favorite smokes. Dalias and Lonsdale are favored sizes. Always a delightful smoke. I dry boxed this for a little more than a day...

    Today's Smoke 2020

Tatuaje Tainos - from a box purchased from mu mike in 2013. Really nice smoke. These must be hitting their stride. I tried to dry box, but don't have a box that will hold 7 5/8 inches. Had to touch up the burn several times but wasn't bad. Very flavorful and smooth.

Take those wrappers off if you're putting things back

Thanks for the input on Illusione. The box from 2013 I just finished up was outstanding. My ability to remember the cellophane on/off is lacking. The 2019's are smoking very nicely so I'll smoke them before the 2017s. That will probably be a couple of years before I get to them. I will...

Take those wrappers off if you're putting things back

Thanks for the input Barry I had tried dry boxing in the past, but wasn't doing it like Sid said. I can well imagine that turning the cigar makes a huge difference. Will give that a shot

Take those wrappers off if you're putting things back

Unfortunately at age 74 the proper word doesn't always come to mind. In terms of cellophanes, I leave some on and take some off. If they're in a 5x5 box that I'm putting back for years, I take them off. In terms of discussion I think everyone should do what suits them in terms of cellophanes...

Take those wrappers off if you're putting things back

    Software/Apps For Cigar Tracking?

CigSid Said 'I did this for years... keeping an excel sheet, which humidor has what... then I got too busy lazy... " Same here. Years ago I was diligent, then slowly less so, now I rarely check the spreadsheet and then only if somethings been around for years. The problem is not so much...

    Today's Smoke 2020

After my throat cancer scare I've not been hanging around the forum as much. Only smoking one a week, Okay sometimes two. So anyhow, as long as I kept hanging around this place I kept buying cigars which doesn't make much sense. I'll never be able to smoke them. Anyhow, among the first cubans...

    Fridge and Wine cooler Guide

I have guests arriving soon, and am unable to look up Schmecke Cooler or humicup and am unfamiliar with those products. I will make some general remarks quickly. Cigar owners deal primarily with Relative Humidity which is Relative to the temperature. I will note that under certain conditions (...
