    Going to Ireland

My gf was over there this summer and said that it seemed like everyone smoked, so they much have someplace for them to do it! Have a great time! I know she loved it and wants to go back; she said it was the most beautiful place she's seen and everyone was incredibly friendly. She also said the...

What's your latest Pipe and tobacco purchase?

Just received a Savinelli meer-lined de luxe 803ks from the 'bay. It looks like a replacement stem and there are three very small chips in the meer at the very top edge of the bowl, probably from scraping the cake out, but they shouldn't affect the way it smokes. It appears to be very clean...

    What's in your pipe today?

My first pipe and tobacco order arrived today, so I sampled Presbyterian (I had to, as I am one) and Frog Morton in my new Missouri Meerschaum. They were so much better than the crappy aromatic that my brother-in-law had left at his place, and much more flavorful than the Prince Albert and...

    Gaming Rigs

This is me precisely. Until these new AMDs came out, I used AMD in all my builds for the value they offered. It's definitely not worth it now, much better to pony up the extra $100-200 for the Intel chip.

From the photo it looks like there's a pretty good flange around the front and sides of the opening. I imagine the OP has already got a plan or he wouldn't be starting yet, but if it were me I would try running a bead of silicone around it to seal when the lid overlaps the flange. I'm not sure...

    Planning ahead, but not much

For Christmas my Dad is taking my brother-in-law and myself on what looks like a killer fishing trip this coming June. We all enjoy smoking cigars, and often do so together, but I'm the only one that has access to ISOMs. I'd like to bring a box to share with them on the trip, as it's in Canada...

What beer did you drink today?

Black Butte Porter and Rio Blanco Pale Ale last night. The porter was very nice, the pale ale very decent and drinkable but not anything too exciting.

    Today's Smoke II

I just enjoyed the tail end of the nice warm day we've had here by smoking a My Father Cedros Deluxe out back. It was very nice for almost 2/3 and then turned very bitter. I tried to keep going with it for a little bit but ended up having to put it down. Can't say that I see myself trying these...

    Today's Smoke II

Padron 6000 on the drive to the city for shopping, LFD DL chisel on the drive home. Had canoeing problems with the LFD that never did go away.

The i5-2500k is still the best thing going. The new AMD's are junk, if you want to go the AMD route, stick to the Phenom series. You can get an X2 or X3 and a mobo with an unlocker and maybe get one or two cores for free.

    New pipe purchases?

I have. A couple Missouri Meerschaums, to be precise. ;) As you know from my status comment, I just tried one I borrowed from my brother-in-law, and though the tobacco he had was not terribly interesting, I can see the potential and am going to try a few other things before really jumping in...

Thanks to the pipe smoking 101 thread here, it burned pretty well, but seemed pretty bland. Maybe the tobacco he had, maybe my job packing. I'll try again with some other tobaccos.

    AmmoDor Ammo can travel humidors!

Fun idea for a travel humidor, but a bit large for my needs. Looks cool though.

    Amusing Website for Scotch Fans

That's an interesting idea, but I don't know how well it would really turn out. Almost all whiskies, after being blended, are "married" in an oak cask for some amount of time to allow the blend to integrate. (Even a single malt is really a "blend" of whisky from different casks. Only "single...
