Hey guys/gals how's it going,

My name is RJ Tompkins and I am a newbie to Cigar Pass. Everyone calls me RJ(Robert Joshua) but lately I have been getting used to Rob and or Robby. I guess those names are a bit more mature for myself being a 22 year old now. I live in upstate New York about an hour and a half south of Albany in a small town called Rosendale. It's a nice small town and I have a few close friends in the area to keep me occupied at any given time. My MAIN issue with my location is the lack of cigar shops(well, the more "decent" ones at that) and the distance I need to drive if I DO find one. I started my interest in cigars about 2-3 years ago when I was introduced to them by my cousin and uncle. I always knew what they were and understood why people smoked them, but I just never gave them a shot until recently. About 2 years ago a few close friends and myself went on our annual snowboarding trip to Vermont. Everything was set: clothes,food,drinks,gear,etc... There was something that we all felt was missing though, cigars. We took a little detour to Uptown Cigars in Kingston, NY before we headed for Vermont. That was the best decision I have made that entire trip. Uptown Cigars may very well be the place where my interest in cigars has skyrocketed. Israel Markevitz, the man behind the counter who I later found to be my uncle's best friend, was the reason why I jumped on the cigar train. Ever since Izzy told me he was my uncle's bud I've been buying from Uptown every chance I got. Izzy introduced me to Padron, Rocky Patel, Ashton, Drew Estate, Liga Privada, and many more. A year after meeting Izzy and the Uptown gang, I joined the US navy. Things in the military were going pretty solid. I graduated basic training in December of 2010 but was put on hold for medical reasons. After about 4 months of working on the Recruit Training Command or, "boot camp", I was sent home on a medical discharge with a hereditary blood disorder as my diagnosis. That was back April of 2011. Now a days I find myself with a broken left humerus from a snowboarding accident back in February and myself being unemployed. I plan on making some critical life changes when my arm is fully healed, but for now, I'm going to enjoy some quality cigars.
