I found a new B&M and it's glorious!

If you noticeed, this box has the Blue rain drop humidity sticker on it which tells me that this box is probably from last year because none of the anejo boxes that I've seen from this year have this sticker on them.

Relavance: the sticker signifies that the box has a humidipak inside. The new release has no sticker hence no humidipak as a result of the mold problem from last year.

I just picked up a sealed box of sharks yesterday and it does not have that sticker in fact none of the sevn boxes I saw yesterday had it.

Interesting... I just picked up three boxes of what were said to be this years release and the 48's and 50's had the sticker while the 77's didn't. Anyone have any concrete insight on this?

I had that happen last year with a box of sharks. Looked OK going into the humidor, two months later they were very moldy. The vendor was a champ and refunded my money, no questions asked.

Some guys will tell you to "brush 'em off and smoke 'em" but I've never had any luck with that. In my experience, by the time you can see mold, they are usually gone. Like smoking old moist gym socks....just f'n nasty. I'd return them. I think you are doing the right thing....painful as it may be.

Good luck - B.B.S.

So you think I should return the whole box then? I guess the issue is that I doubt he's going to want me ripping cello off each box of Sharks searching for the "perfect" box. In this situation think I should just call it a day on the sharks and be done with it or should I try to just swap the bad for good? I mean 9 of em are ok with no mold what so ever.
Ian, it's your call. I know the box I had was about 60% moldy, so I just returned the whole box. I absolutely can't stand moldy cigars. Maybe I have an unusually low tolerance, but if the cigar shows any mold they taste like s#!t to me. As rare and desirable as Anejo's are, I'd rather hold off and get a great box, rather than one that had been compromised.

My $00.02.....B.B.S.

The boxes that I saw were all of the same size which is the 77's and particularly asked and was told that this was the case. This may not be the case for the rest of the line, again this was supposedly directed at the sharks because of last years mold problem which affected the sharks more than any of the others. I am not the expert but I do trust my supplier

Awww, that makes sense. Based on that Ian, it sounds like you have one of the famously moldy 2006 boxes. Send them back.

Just checked my boxes and they are mold FREE thank god.

Alright, back they go, no questions asked. It sounds like what they have currently is the 2006 boxes with the humipacks unfortunately. :( Oh well, I guess back to normal life. haha.

Besides I didnt think that these starting hitting B&M's as early as the date written on the box "9/07" so maybe they picked them up from another B&M that had them left over from last year. The fisrt sightings that I know of were in November.

Dang. . . it must be good to be in Denver where the Anejo's grow on trees!

Might have to take a road trip. . . . .

It's good to know that they have taken out the humidipak but then I have not had a problem with Fuente boxes including Sharks because
I open, inspect and take out the humidipak from every box.

Just curious though, how many of you do not remove the humidipak from the box. The humidipak is designed for transportation, not storage.

I always pull them when placing the boxes in the cabinet. Always.

I cracked a box of 50's and 55's today. Humipack removed, so far no sign of mold on the uncedared parts. fingies and toes crossed.

After a sold read on all that is going on I agree, they would go back. Having said that, it would be nice just to find a box. The B&M's near me did not get the blessings of the FUENTE GODS. Plus the average of the single stick is $23.00 YES $23.00 DOLLARS.

So while IN my hear I feel for you. As a brother of the leafy I want to console you.

But as a cigar lover who can not even get my hands on any, you poor poor bast-age.

well I'm keeping my fingers crossed on a non-mold box tomorrow, but we'll just have to see. To be honest, if it was only 2-3 sticks I wouldnt make an issue of it, but since its over half the box I just can't let that go especially since I planned on aging these. I'll let everyone know how it works out tomorrow. The owners are all great people and I love the shop and I'm confident they'll make it right.

Well im sitting here on the couch at the b&m smoking a Shark out of a new non-molded box and all is well. Theyre still unpacking the shipment looking for the 80ths but ive been assured them as soon as they're pulled so i will keep the ones that pm'ed me about them in the loop.

Ian

Well, just got back. Here is what I ended up with:

This store is evil. My wife is going to kill me. lol.

To those that wanted the 80ths. Let me sort some things out and see how many I'm going to get rid of and I'll let you know.

Very nice. Crossing fingers and hoping those Sharks arent moldy either.

How are the prices at that B&M.

Your cigar budget looks like my take home monthly salary....hahaha :)
