Respect is earned, not given freely. No one starts with disrespect, but it is faster and easier to get disrespect than it is to earn respect. It's all in your actions as well as you reactions.

It's been said time and time again - it's Rod's board, we're just visiting. Without moderators (thank God), the FOG's are here to help make sure the place runs smooth, and safe for guys just joining. But it seems every so often a 'wave' appears and wants to make changes to the way things are done. Well, I say leave well enough alone. It works, it has always worked, and will always work. Some may not agree with, or like, the way it's done at times, but that's where the thicker skin comes in. Get over it, more on and go about your day - or find another board to try and mold to your liking. Usually the ones stirring the pot show their true colors, make an asshat of themselves (or in the rare case make ammends and become contributing members) and leave. And provide entertainment for those of use watching it unfold.

just my take on all this.

Before I clicked the "register" button a couple of years ago, I took the time to go back and read all the posts for about the last year. I really looked at joining this board as joining a "club" as Matt described it. I took the time to get a feel for how things are done around here and who is who. By doing that, I have been able to exist around here without getting myself into too much trouble and I know who is looking out for the best interests of this community. I joined with the intent of representing the established values and customs of the board. I've tried to fit into the group that was here well before I was and that had made this place successful.

A lot of people have quite a bit invested in this place, not in dollars but in time and interaction. It's nice to have a place where you know you're not going to get ripped off and you know you can trust those around you.

There's no need for change. There's need for a better understanding of the history of this place and the reasons things are done the way they are whether they hurt someone's feelings or not.

Allowing strangers to "hurt" you in any way over the internet is just foolish. How come someone "hurt" you if they have no standing in your life other than what you read here?

I'm starting to parrot Matt and some others now. I better stop before I start talking about butt plugs and tiaras... :laugh:
 
Matty is an in inveterate fence sitter and when he weighs in you can bet the dust up is already over. Now you fuggin' people have talked this thing into the ground and ruined it, leaving me with no choice but to find somebody else to piss off.

Oh geez... it was just a joke. He's always looking for someone to piss off and he does a good job with me. I've done my part and kept my mouth shut for nearly all of this stuff the past few days.
