Who Here has Held the Rank of E-7

I can verify that Dean (Tasman) has and I have as well. E-7 / SFC U.S. Amy from 1976 to 1997. All active duty and if I could, I would do it again........ :)

I wished I could say I made it that far but due to my massive injuries, my time was cut short. :(

I got passed over once for E-7 before I got picked for OCS. Not sure what that says about the Military :)

I have held the rank of Specialist Five, the equivalent of E-5. It was in the day that the specialist rank went all the way up to E-8. It was in field artillery gunnery. In terms of naval ranks, I have held the rank of Quartermaster third class which I believe is about E-4.

As a Marine OCS is sorta limited to one place. MCB Quantico, 21 years ago.

I didn't know you were a Redleg SJM. Rear of the piece, FALL IN!

AVB, which OCS did you go to? What years?

Yep, I was a Redleg, gun bunny, etc. for about ten years, five active, five reserve. Rose to BC of Alpha Battery, 2nd ID Korea back in 1976. I learned alot about the Marines at Fort Sill as we train their artillery there. It is one of the few places where Army and Marines come together to train. My gunnery instructor was a Marine LT. He was one of the great officers I have ever known. He served two tours in 'Nam and cared about people.

Were you infantry??

E-5 Sgt. in The Marine Corps.......Airwinger. Was gaurnteed to move up to Gunny within 2.5 years if I agreed to re-up an additional four with two years still left on my term. My unit was changing over from F-4 Phantoms to the F-18's and they wanted to know if I was staying before they spent money to send me back to C school.
