about to start a new chapter in my life.

Congratulations Marc. I wish you all the success in the world.

I'll be in DFW at the beginning of June (as will my brother-in-law) and so you just might have two cigar hounds drop by the shop.

Best,
Wilkey

Congrats on the shop Marc. I will definitly make it a place to visit when I am down that way again. Best wishes and good luck with it. How big will your lounge area be, sounds like the perfect place for some herfin.

Wilkey, keep me posted on when you and your brother in-law are in town. Making a 3 hour trip is easy for me to do in comparison to the distance you will have traveled. It would be great to meet up with you.

That is awsome! You are living a dream many of us have. Have fun and good luck.

Sounds great, Phillip! I'll make a note of it.

Congrats Marc on opening a B&M cigar store.
It sounds like it will be a nice place.

You are a good son letting your dad run the shop.
I hope he does not smoke up too much of the profits. :whistling:

Are you planning on doing things better in your shop than you've seen done in other shops?

For example, will you let customers smoke their own cigars in your lounge without having to buy any from you?

Or, one of my pet peeves is when the prices on the shelves are either too small to read, or not even posted.

How about some kind of membership plan to encourage repeat business?

Just a few thoughts. Good luck. You'll do fine if you keep your eye on the big picture.

as for being different, yeah...absloutly. thats what im banking in that will get set us apart and help create our success.

yeah, we will allow customers to smoke and store their own cigars in our store. i know ill smoke a few of my isoms in there so im not going to be a hypocrite.

belive it or not, during my year or so of studying other cigar shops, ive found customers like it better when the prices arent on the actual cigar, just the box itself for one simple reason. so their wife wont know how much they spent. i know it sounds dumb, but ive found that most guys will buy more if they know were not "taddeling" on them with price tags. its actually an old trick you learn on marketing 101 that alot of high end boutique shops use.

definatly a membership program. including private humidors, a free cigar in their humi every month, a complimentary birthday cigar, and a gift pack when they sign up, including an ash tray, guottine cutter and cigar.

thanks for the input, i need more of that.

If only I was closer to your area or vice versa. I would love to have a quality shop nearby. Keep us posted on when the Grand Opening will be, afterall I am a short roadtrip away.

Oh yeah, no prices on the individual cigars is a good thing. I hate getting busted by the wife. :sign:

Advertise "Bachelor Party" bundles or "Wedding Reception" bundles. You put together bundles based on the Host's info about the guests. It'll make novices more willing to come to your shop for help.

Wow, that sounds terrific. Best of luck to you in this new exciteing (and challenging) endeavor. next time I'm in the DFW area I'll make it a point to stop in!

Good luck to you! I've thought of doing the same, but my current area is VERY hostile towards tobacco. I'd probably have professional protesters in front of the shop day and night! :D

If I'm ever down that way I'll stop in and drop some cash.
