How do you decide...

Just curious how others decide what to smoke when its their time. I imagine most of us have a pretty large selection to choose from, and even with my relatively small one I often have trouble deciding.

I keep an inventory list, actually two, and I keep a consumption tracking list.
I refer to both when I am feeling the itch to puff.
One of my inventory lists keeps track of how long what has been in the humi.
Great idea, and particularly when I have overlapping (by date) inventory blends, and/or vitolas.
Some times I want to try the same thing that has been in storage longer, or a shorter period of time.

My consumption list helps to to change my puffing rotation.
So far this year I have had only one particular cigar more than once.

I blame AOTA on my years in the semi business as it was all stats, all day, everyday but then there's usually a silver lining. :)

I grab a pipe to avoid the trama:p

I have smoked a LOT in my life time, and I mean a LOT.
I am 60 years of age & I have basically 60 years of lung damage from smoking; I won't go into all the details. :D
When I was a teenager one of my (older) smoking buddies smoked a pipe, and he had several; also a lot of tobacco blends to boot.
When I was at Henry's one day I said, "Henry, load me up your favorite tobacco in your favorite pipe, and lemme try it out."
So, Henry did just that; he fired it up, took a couple of good puffs, it smelled fantastic, and he handed me the pipe.
I tried a few puffs, and I just couldn't figure out why something that smelled so GOOD could taste so bad.
Never tried a pipe after that; I just kept smoking my Malrboro reds & my Columbian. 😂

Damn! At least I waited until I was five to start smoking! :)

When I was very young I was fascinated with smoking; it seemed like everyone was smoking, something.
All of my uncles smoked cigarettes, one uncle smoked cigars , and one of my aunts smoked.
Every Sunday before church all of the deacons were out in front of the church smoking like crazy.
Even my pediatrician smoked; he smoked like a freight train in the clinic. I would go to the clinic every Saturday for an allergy shot.
It was a different era back then.
I started smoking at age 14 when we were on break at orchestra practice; Swisher Sweets.
Two weeks later I was smoking Marlboro reds.
All of this, not long after I had my last asthma attack.

When I was in my early 20s I could go through 2, to 3 packs a day, depending if I was shooting pool, or doing some other 'stuff.'

You just needed to find the right blend. I smoked Marlboro Red hard pack for a good 10 years before I got the serious sickness for cigars in the late 90's. I enjoyed the act of packing a fresh pack of Reds and then taking that first cigarette and smoking it with my morning coffee. I quit cigs cold turkey when I got serious about cigars and will never look back. I wish that I had started smoking pipes as well when I got the cigar bug.

when I started smoking cigarettes as a 14 year old I basically did it because it was (then) considered the 'cool' thing to do.
During the basic time frame I smoked that 'other' stuff too. 🤣
I quit the 'other' stuff in 1998 & I quit cigarettes in 1999.
I started the cigar thing in 2007 as a curiosity, then I got serious about cigars within a few years.
Never should have started smoking at all; I nearly died from pneumonia at 21 months of age, had pneumonia at least 6 times, had asthma until I was 14, had the flu more times than I care to remember so, I was never a candidate for being a smoker.
Too late though because I'm now 60 years old, and I smoked 188 cigars in 2020.
I might as well be a steam locomotive because I smoke more than one.
My physicians still don't understand why my lungs still function & I get a yearly CAT scan for my lungs; early detection for lung cancer.
Puff puff .................
