That's awesome! Cigars are like wine, in that you can find an awesome tasting 90+ point cigar for five bucks or a killer tasting bottle of wine for 20 bucks that rivals the best in the world. Just look at how many 4-6 dollar cigars there are on this list........it's great!

I would have thought a Trinidad would have made the list... Nice to see some of the not so expensive sticks make the list. Who would have figured a Brick House?

I must be a snob because I only see 1 or 2 I would actually smoke off that list.

yeah I agree. Most of those just aren't my thing. Good to know the critics are unbiased though.

I had achance to smoke #6 about a week ago and it was fantastic! The Brickhouse Robusto is really a great cigar, regardless of the price. I heard that Ashton owns the Brickhouse brand but does anyone know who rolls them?

This one is really good and worth the price.

I had a Brickhouse Churchill tonight that was gifted to me on my birthday... I have to be honest that I wasn't impressed with it when I got it because the guy who gave it to me is known as a pooch rocket smoker first class. His go to cigar is a German dry-cured Sumatran that scares all bugs in a 20 mile radius away. But he smokes cigars all day long and having less than a buck sticks is his way of affording it.

I have to admit it was pretty decent, it was good enough (I nubbed it) to make me want to try the robusto.

My B&M just got these in today, so I'm going to go try it tomorrow in a couple of different sizes, hopefully they live up to the hype!

I think for the money, CAO is making some delicious smokes and I'm glad one of their 5 dollar cigars made the top 15......I have a few in the humidor that I will get around to smoking. I've smoked the Oliva Serie V Maduro (#19) and it was fantastic and worth every penny!

Any thoughts.....surprises etc,?

I think as you search and read up around here, you'll realize most CPers don't put a whole lot of stock in Shanken's vanity mag. Try a bit of everything and remember to smoke what you like, like what you smoke.

Very true.....but it can be helpful to find a cigar source who tastes a variety of cigars that you also like; takes some of the "guess" work out of throwing down hundreds of dollars for a box of cigars that you ultimately find repugnant and overpriced. I for one don't have the coin to pay/search for great cigars that I could easily just read about in various magazines and or cigar forums to help steer me in the right direction. And the #3 ranked cigar on the said "vanity" list (Opus X) and Padron (#4) are some of the most talked about and revered cigar brands among cigar pass members.

He didn't call it a "'vanity' list", he called it a vanity mag. As reference to all the swag they push in between stories about boarder crossing hilarity and the occasional mention of cigars. You're certainly entitled to your opinion of the magazine and the list, but many people, myself included, have found both to be lacking. Personally, when I see cigars I've smoked and tossed after 5 minutes get a 90 rating and then see that something like a Padron 40th get a 91 rating, I tend to disregard their rating system as a source. And Jethro Tull still thinks Padron was robbed in 2008. There are several good reviewers on here that I have found to have similar tastes as myself, but it takes time to realize who shares your tastes and who doesn't. But the time and the effort is well worth it.
