At the recent Quad State Herf II, several BOTL's including myself were fortunate enough to meet with Paul (didn't get his last name) who owned the company, and he was extremely kind to donate many of his Lucky 8 cigars for smoking as well as raffle prizes. In hindsight, I should have asked for a business card, but that totally slipped my mind as I listened to his charismatic retelling of his cigars. Now I am on the look out for information.

Does anyone have any thoughts, insights, maybe even a website I can look at to find more about this gentleman as well as his company? The Lucky 8 by far carries one of the most beautiful bands on possibly the most majestic cigars I've seen since I started smoking. I asked him if there was a store in Brooklyn that carried some and he mentioned a B&M close to my office as well as a few blocks down from Dan's house (CgarDan). I'll be stopping by there later in the week to take a look.

edit - 2/23/07 Visited all the local B&M's in my hood, none heard of Armando Ramos, nor carry their cigars. This is going to be tough getting more of these, enjoy what you got for now.

edit - 2/25/07 Caveat emptor, know Paul Magier and the infamous PINAR company before making a purchase. Look at post #18 of this thread. If you are fine with buying the product, then feel free to do so. Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.

I saw that sight as well. From what I gather (from Paul as well as some internet searching) the cigar was meant originally for the China cigar market (8 is a lucky number, Paul and my parents said so :laugh: ) plus its got a nice deep red band (red is a lucky color). It is still new here in the States as far as I can tell. The regular line markets for more than the Cubans in China, and that gold foil one is meant only for a Shanghai night club (only sold there for an impressive price). I haven't smoked any yet, going to let them rest a good while before I even touch them.

From the conversation with Paul, it took 8 years for his company to get grow the Cameroon in Ecuador, and for this type of venture and his extreme generosity piqued my curiosity in full search mode. I have no idea how they taste, but from looking at the foot, it contains HIGH QUALITY tobacco. Coupled with the near vein free wrappers on the maduro (I think it is a maduro) robusto and Cameroon Torpedo of the regular line, this is one cigar to not overlook. Can't judge a book by its cover, but this cigar is already impressive.

I tried and liked his Magus red band Ecuadorian puros. Never had a Lucky 8. ;)
 
I was lucky enough to get one of each, cammie and maduro, robustos at the herf. They do look REALLY nice, I will try one this coming weekend. Thanks to Paul M. he was extremely generous with his donations for the herf!!!

Did you smoke the maduro robusto or the cameroon torp? I'm interested in the smoking experience from everyone who recieved one from the Quad State Herf. Been looking around different B&Ms to find one that carries these, but no avail. Going to try again tomorrow and Friday for more locations. I have a feeling these might be the new found crack.

Two words. BIG BUCKS (this is a guestimation). Hopefully around $5 - $8 USD for the regular line depending on the size. I'll see if my last local B&M might carry these.

I had this cigar in the goodie bag for the July herf last year at Churchills. I agree, a good cigar.

I am trying to follow this thread and I am confused a little. Those this mean that Paul Magier runs Cigar-ette City?? If that is so then that vendor could be a problem.

This does not mean that Paul runs Cigar-ette City. Frank Especiale owns it (according to the site pictures), however I could not find an address on this site to see where this place is located/operated from. They have a phone number, which I am presuming is fully automated. I have not neard much on this vendor except they carry mombacho, which other vendors do carry as well.
