This board is self moderated. That is how Rod set it up and it it is and has been working well, I have traded with you before and at one time had some respect for you but you continually put yourself in a position that goes against the history of this board. I for one appreciate the way it works and it is the reason it is/has been the only true board I participate in...Everyone here is a big boy and really doesn't need a Knight in shining armor to come rescue them. When they are wrong, they will be called out, if you choose to jump into the middle of every single thread, you will likely get hit by shrapnel.

I agree it is a self moderated community and most of the times it is very good. I know about the history of CP and it is a very good history. My opinion differs with your opinion for one reason here. He has been called out. He has answered the question what more do you want from him? I also think the first thread made the community aware of what was happening and people can decide if they want to deal with him or not. A second thread made by someone with less than 2 yearson CP after the first thread is not needed. We also do not need multiple post by Jayro who also has less than 2 years and is in every thread like this and most of his posts are to pile on or be sarcastic. I guess that is ok that he can spew his opinions in every thread and you don't mind that. But me because I speak out against what I see goes over board it is not ok. Take a look at the last thread and see how many times Jayro posted and that some of the are nothing more than sarcasum.

That statement probably holds true to your position as well, Don. We don't need people with less than 2 years doing it, just like we don't need people with 2 years coming in and being the counter-point to everyone else. Also, you say he shouldn't because he hasn't been here long enough, yet you have attempted to call me out as well and I have been here for over 3 years now. So now is it ok for me to do it?

Don, I think you have good intentions, but just sit back and think about it for a while. I do agree with you that some people should stay out of certain situations, but you can't stop who will or won't post so just let it go. It is getting you nowhere.

Going by that logic I should feel free to say whatever I want in this thread, since I've been here longer. But I won't because I still consider myself a noob and will stand aside. Just wanted to say that tenure here doesn't mean much. It's what you give to the community that counts.

That is far from true. I call it when I see it. I did not publicy defend him in that thread(the sell thread). I asked a question to Whopper and he answered it. I stated (and mind you I did it in private till someone here just had to know who). The second thread was not needed and was just a pile on and nothing more(which is happening more as of late). I am not against callouts. I am against harping on the guy who has answered all your question and pulls his sales and also he will not be selling anytime in the future. And he still get's shit thrown at him. I also don't like it when people are just attempting to make someone look bad for no real good reason. Not one person who piled on get's anything said about them because they side with you. But damn if Don says you went overboard all hell breaks loose. Start speaking up more on the people who are just adding crap to the thread then you will not see me in it. This is not directly pointing at you Brian.
 
As a noobie who's purchased from several people here on Cigar Pass including several purchases from elderboy02, I am greatful to the older guys who enforce the community rules to keep this place as safe as it is; I can't say I'd be so comfortable shelling out $$$ to strangers on the other forums I've participated in. After watching these two threads there are a couple lessons this noob is going to take away:

1. If it becomes obvious your primary activity on Cigar Pass is selling cigars, you are being deceitful and abusing the community's trust.

2. Selling cigars on CP is more like doing CPers a favor by providing HTF/Rare/Premium/Recommended cigars at/below cost to people who may not be able to find/sample them.

On base? Off base? Any additional insight?

First Don, elderboy didn't answer all the questions, pull his sales, nor say he was going to cease sales for the time being until this thread was started and going. Once he finally came out and said the sales would stop was when I stopped posting in his direction. Everyone has their own views on what goes on around here. Some look through rose colored glasses, some see the picture perfectly, and some just don't see shit. You'll never get 100% solidarity on things when you have so many different personalities on a forum. The only thing to do is to hash things out the best way possible. Yes, I agree that things get drawn out too far and long at times, yes I agree people throw their $.02 in the mix in a petty way, yes, I know that there are times when I need to just stfu, and yes, I realize there will always be differing opinions. It's the perception that rules Don. People perceive you and John as the guys that will stand up for the people that we (I) are calling out. You've done it before on multiple occasions, therefore people automatically assume that's your M.O. now in any thread you speak up in. This is what you are dealing with right now. Did you feel I was wrong in initially questioning elderboy on all his sales? No one saw you post until the thread got drug out and you voiced your opinion on that. Did you say anything about all of his sales when I questioned it? Do you see where I'm going with this Don? You stayed out of it until you felt you needed to be heard and that's all anyone saw....the perception that you were taking up for someone that was being called out. Didn't matter your reasoning, because of your past history doing for it.

You seem to not like how things are done here. It's done this way for a reason. While your motives may be out of kindness, I have seen far more instances where members get screwed by unscrupulous selling or trades. Hence, we have rules here. Your PM to elderboy, while a good attempt on YOUR part, is bad for the COMMUNITY at large. Especially, when you have been mistaken as a representative of the community. Granted it was his perception that you are a FOG. If I may paraphrase LLyod Benson, I know FOG, you are no FOG! Leave the calling out of people to the ones with experience. By experience, I mean, not measured in the number of posts or seniority. You've been given advice to just let things slide on threads that really doesn't concern you. You made you point that you don't like the way things are done here in these kind of situations. You've been told why these things are being done. You either put up with the rules, or you can find another board that will welcome your point of view. I am sure life will go on.

Don, please try to be more careful with your apostrophe usage. In no way is get's ever acceptable. It is impossible for get to show ownership and you would never say "get is". I have noticed your usage of "your" and "you're" is often incorrect as well. If you are ever unsure, just expand the contraction and see if it makes sense. For example: "I went to you're house to smoke" becomes "I went to you are house to smoke". Or, "Your driving too fast!". My driving too fast? No, You ARE driving too fast. Lastly, "its" is the possessive form of it, and "it's" is the contraction of it is.

It is not just you Don, this problem permeates the board as well the entire internet. Why it is becoming more prevalent I cannot say, perhaps because nobody thinks to correct it. I will not sit idly by any longer and allow these grammatical atrocities to continue. That goes for all of you. Shape up and think about what you are typing, it will make you a better poster.
